My volume is fine and the sound is very good, though it took me a while to figure out and work the controls. I haven’t taken it camping but used it in a cabin, and the speaker plus light came in handy out by the fire pit. Have yet to charge off of it.
I consider myself lucky. I have a Sonos Move portable and three of their amplifiers powering bookshelf, wall mounted and ceiling speakers in different rooms, but because two of my amps are old I’m still on the legacy Sonos 1 app and haven’t had the problems mentioned in the article. Hard to...
I was driving on an interstate the other night and while Driver+ icon showed available, every time I activated it, it immediately started warning me that it was shutting off. Happened over several attempts over the course of 50 miles or so, so I gave up.
I just use the Apple podcast app on my phone via Bluetooth, works fine. I was using Apple Music the same way. Native on the Rivian sounds better but I lost the ability to search via Siri, which is annoying. I hope Rivian comes up with a voice search that works with the Apple Music app.
We have a family Apple Music account. On our Model Y, we can log in separately to each profile, so mine has my Apple Mudic, my daughter has hers, etc. It works well except it does seem to log itself out and require re-logging in more often than I would like.
Any ideas (or experience, now that...
I got a chip on the highway ten days ago, booked a Safelite repair but the next morning I went out to the garage to find it had spidered up and down. Safelite could order and replace the glass but can’t calibrate Rivians (they said they only recently started calibrating Teslas). So I called the...
Did a 7500 mile service at Chelsea SC (Boston) earlier this month. $100 for tire rotation and rebalancing, plus $100 for general checkup. They went over everything and topped up the washer fluid, no wiper blade change. I bought filters online and will change them myself.
They did one service...
We have a place up near Plattsburgh, NY, about a half hour south of the Quebec border and 1.5-2 hours to Montreal. My nephew just drove up from Philly in a Kona EV. Between the EVolve NY network, multiple Magic Dock-enabled Superchargers, and other networks the I-87 corridor is well covered. I...
I agree, I think that lower angle is probably a factor in comments above comparing R1 to Prius and Tesla experiences. Their windshields have a much gentler slope so rock hits are less direct and more likely to glance off.
I got my first chip on my R1S just Thursday on a long drive - noticed...
I just had my R1S in for 7500 mile service. They charged $100 for tire rotation and rebalancing, and $100 for my requested general service which as far as I can tell consisted of giving the car a once-over and topping up the washer fluid. They also did a service bulletin of replacing a seal on...
A few things:
Rivian is not positioned as a luxury vehicle, so don’t expect luxury service. That said, you should expect responsive service. Unfortunately from what I’ve seen on this forum, Bellevue is perhaps the most frequently cited SC for service backlog and issues.
I got my R1S in late...
I got used to having it on my Model Y, especially useful in town for right turns across bike lanes. My wife’s Odyssey also shows a camera view but just for right turns.
I’m very happy to have it on my R1S - thank you Rivian! If possible I’d like to have the option to move the right one over to...
I got the new software release yesterday. Prior to installing I suspected it had flipped back to left channel-only mode. I figured the install would clear it but I tested with a couple songs and it hadn’t. It required a soft reset to fix. I hope this doesn’t keep happening, it’s minor but...
I still haven’t received it, despite waking the car repeatedly and even chatting with customer support and then service this morning. Have a long drive with family later this week so would very much like the new suspension tuning.
I switched from Eero to Netgear Orbi a while back. Can’t find...
The Supercharger stations in Brattleboro VT and West Lebanon NH both started as 8-stall v2s in 2015 or so, and were expanded with another 8 v3s in 2022. Neither is accessible to non-Teslas. May be due to shared hardware incompatibility, or to wariness about the confusion or even conflict that...

I’ve driven back and forth from Boston to the Burlington area countless times over the past 11 years in Teslas, from before there were any Superchargers north of New Haven. I swapped one Tesla for my R1S last year. Like you, I have had to wait every time at the single EA...
This afternoon as I was partway into a 200 mile drive home I felt like it had reverted to left channel only. Late on the drive down we took a couple calls and used Alexa for navigation search, then left it plugged into 110 the whole weekend so didn’t notice it until today. Tried to reset the...
