    Interesting to see Rivian's future rival Scout Motors is going all camera based like Tesla. Xiaomi and Xpeng in China are also moving to strictly camera based systems.

    I don't know if BMW has announce an iX3 50 sdrive(RWD), but that would be a road trip monster if it happens. I know the iX3 40 sdrive and xdrive have been announced, price under $55k. Like you said people say they don't need it, then complain during winter months about range.

    The non-Launch(Perf) Dual-motor/Large should end up being the volume seller. I understand the $45k price tag is the headline for the base model, but honestly how many customers want an off-road marketed vehicle in RWD.

    RJ has said in recent cnbc interview the Launch is Dual-Motor Performance. (yellow brake calipers on all the press R2's give that away) I don't think there will be a choice. Likely only going to be able to option interior and exterior color.

    Just above Model Y Perf. $59,990 +dest I just have a hard time believing Rivian figured margins on EV production better than Tesla. Tesla de-contents the hell out their vehicles, Rivian offers a more premium product. Plus battery is huge driver of EV cost and R2 battery is larger.

    Makes sense, similar to Tesla "standard" models. Could even have some sort of cloth seats and have heated seats only. A stereo with less speakers. I could see features like adaptive suspension also not on $45k model. Upgraded suspension being Performance pack only. Software could be paired...

    Interesting response to the $45k question. RJ starts talking about the Launch Spec...he say its Perf Dual-motor with a premium interior. Why would he say it like that? Is the $45k base model going to have less premium materials/features?

    True competitor to Rivian oddly enough will be VW backed Scout Motors. Even more off-road chops, body on frame, mechanical locking diffs, sway bar disconnects, for sub $60k. But I read the EV models have been delayed, EREVs are first.

    Thought about that as well, but above the 39 kwh it said 29min session. If so, 30% to 83% in 29min is not good. It sounds like they are far off from a finished product. Just going to chalk this up as buggy pre-production software. Because 39.1 kwh from 19-83% makes zero sense.

    Software issue is likely culprit. Could also explain sub-200kw charging. It is possible Rivian weren't expecting the results he got or else they would not have let him charge it. I wonder if he was first to charge...had sub-par results. So then no one else got the chance, they clearly had...

    The drivers display was also shown during charging. Displaying 215 mile range at 76%. That works out to 283 mile range. Was he driving and/or charging a small pack?

    I am still trying to figure out how the guy on Carwow charged from 19-83% and the screen said it only took in 39.1 kwh?

    It has been mentioned in a couple tweets. Apparently Kyle from Out of Spec was texted a picture of it. It was a battery information label...87.4 kwh capacity and minimum pack voltage 240v.
