That is good to hear, iX3 specs are truly next gen. The EV full-size pickup truck segment in general has done rather poor. Silverado EV is not selling anywhere near reservations and Lightning has been cancelled. Cybertruck styling is its downfall, honestly it would sell a lot better if it...
When was the last time EV reservations lived up to the hype? As of late, it seems all the actual vehicle launches in the EV market have not met expectations(sales coming close to reservation numbers).
Yes. Since I have a gen 1, I always find myself still thinking in gen 1 terms. I forgot Rivian lowered the Large pack capacity on gen 2.
The up charge to dual/large pack(most likely R2 launch spec) will make or break the R2. That $14k est was excessive, although I do think the official...
They also charge $7000 from Large to Max pack...a whopping 10kwh. But using lower trim R1 Dual battery up charges doesn't take into account R2 RWD to Dual cost.
Regarding the R2(base vs lauch ed), you have to add in cost for another motor and everything that comes along with it. The $45k R2...
The iX3 launches late summer in US. I would expect some pre-launch events at certain US dealerships.
There was one recently at CES and press days for Chicago Auto Show.
If that is the case. Key question...what is the up charge from $45k for dual-motor and large battery pack. I have a feeling it is going to be quite significant. The answer to that question could make or break the success of the R2. Dual-motor/Large pack is going to be the volume seller. It...
95kwh from ABRP seems to agree with this estimate of 94kwh.

Couple of pictures from various iX3 launch events. It is wild seeing the remaining range at these battery levels.
318 mile range at 74%
199 mile range at 45%
Rivian is marketed as an adventure vehicle and they are building out their own charging network...range is going to be considered by customers. I road trip my evs all the time. I would love more range, higher efficiency, and faster charging.
The iX3 50i starts at $60k, 112kwh usable, 400kw charging, 400mile EPA range. The specs for the money seem class leading.
Really interested to see what the less expensive iX3 40 sdrive/xdrive are priced at. I am seeing estimates sub $55k. Smaller battery pack, so maybe mid 300 range. But...
I don't see any version getting over 300miles at 70mph. At best I would expect high 2's for efficiency at 70mph.
2.9 m/kwh * 95 kwh = 275.5 miles(100% to 0%)
95kwh is actually a good size. It is just the shape of Rivians that result in terrible efficiency.
If the $45k base model has 270mile range. Wouldn't that be the 75kwh RWD? Meaning an AWD 75kwh pack R2 would have less than 270mile range?
It is possible they only offer AWD with the 95kwh...
