I am so grateful YouTube didn't exist in the mid-late 80s. I definitely would have done something stupid like that. I mean...if you're dumb enough to tie a rope to the back of your friend's bike and have him pull you on a skateboard down the street (with no helmet, pads, etc...), then strapping...
My first few cars ('86 Plymouth Turismo, '89 & '92 Acura Integras) were FWD. If I popped the clutch, I could maybe get a little "chirp", but that was about it. Also, I could only do donuts in reverse. Kinda lame...
Agree. I lucked into an excellent lease deal (no $ down, $620/mo lease for my $82K R1T). New ones are at least 50% more for the same features (which is why I haven't upgraded).
Some banks will allow you to "extend" your lease a few months. I've done this a few times through Chase. They just let you continue on for 3-4 months at the same payment (something I'm seriously considering doing when my Gen1 lease is up, given it's sooooo cheap).
I've experienced this as well w/ my Gen 1. But to be fair, I've experienced it w/ pretty much any recent vehicle that has distance-pacing cruise. My wife's A5 does this, as did her previous two A5s, my previous two Audis, and a few rental cars.

For the record, they are referred to as:
Infotainment Reset (aka Restart the Software)
Full Reset (aka Restart...
To be clear, I'm not saying Tesla is terrible, nor am I saying Rivians don't have issues. I'm just responding to the BS comment that "Every EV except Tesla has frequent issues still these days".
And then there's this article:
https://www.usatoday.com/story/cars/recalls/2025/12/31/tesla-2025-recall-and-investigations/87962810007/
Which includes the ones mentioned above, along w/ a few more.
Ahem...
In 2025, Tesla issued several recalls, including a voluntary recall for certain Model 3 and Model Y vehicles due to battery pack contactor issues that could cause a sudden loss of propulsion. Owners can check if their vehicle is affected by using the Tesla VIN Recall Search tool...
I think the whole problem w/ the OP (and others like him) is way the issues are presented. If he/she had come here and started up a thread saying "hey Rivian community, I've been having a few issues and was wondering if this is something I should be concerned about, or if there are easy...
