Bingo. Tesla was the only real player in the market when it was ramping up M3 production. Now there are insane levels of competition.
I've been saying this for many moons now: Rivian needs strategic partnerships to survive (as does everyone in the industry). As a shareholder, I want to see...
While I can't stand EM or the CyberYuck™, I find this logic from the Insurance Company total BS. The more likely reason is that they are insanely expensive to repair and they don't want the liability.
I own several EVs and 2 of them are extremely low volume. BMW only ever sold 45K i3 vehicles...
The first time I encountered the i3 was at the Consumer Electronics Show in 2012. One of the things that really surprised me, outside of all of the innovative tech at the time, was that my Sassquatch frame actually fit into the driver's seat. I can't get over how much space and visibility I...
I just love that little car. I thought I would have gotten rid of it by now, especially considering I own other electric vehicles in the stable, but I just can't part with it.
You are on point with Rivian; I don't think they motivated to deal with the phantom drain issue.
Yikes! Really sorry that this happened to the @OP. Unfortunately, leaving EVs for a long time takes some planning.
This really makes me appreciate the insane lack of phantom drain in my little EV that could, the BMW i3s. Survived being parked outside several months (Jan-Mar) in DC Winter (but...
I get your point but you picked a bad example. Lauren Sanchez was already a successful self-made millionaire before she met Jeff Bezos. Also, she's 55 (Bezos is 61) so she is entirely age appropriate.
Unlike ....
Ok - now I will ask. What are you doing in the OR? Are you providing real-time troubleshooting? Are you carrying a spare joint device incase the one planned for surgery is defective?
If so, did it touch the camp speaker at any point?
Inquiring minds need to know!
This. My feeling is that the extraordinary commitment to standing up and running Rivian has taken a toll on RJ's family as it does on many founders. Obviously we don't know the reasons behind the breakup but I'd be shocked if the time and commitment to Rivian didn't have a part in it.
Hoping...
I don't think you understood my statement. VW was punished for their emissions scandal and as part of the massive penalty agreed to spend several billion dollars creating the Electrify America charging network.
Nobody is arguing about past discretions of VW. Rivian didn't seem to have a...
I'm with you on Rivian not doing one - I don't think it fits their brand philosophy. But, they desperately need cash so my thinking is that they could co-develop one with VW under a VW branding and provide their expertise and IP on the battery, software, electric motor and architecture side of...
I hear you and in a perfect world we'd waive a wand and eliminate fossil fuels - but that isn't happening and we have to work with the constraints imposed by consumer behavior. At a point where EV infrastructure is woefully behind where it needs to be to accommodate mass adoption of EVs, and...
Wrong. EREVs are EVs with a small and efficient ICE relegated to serving as a generator for electricity. Propulsion comes from the electric motors and the battery.
EREVs eliminate range anxiety, allow you to put a smaller battery in the vehicle saving weight and added cost. The battery...
Exactly why EREVs are going to be exceedingly popular in the near term and why Rivian should be working with VW to co-develop one using shared tech.
I've said it before and I'll say it again. I own 3 EVs and when I have a road trip where I absolutely can't afford to stop for very long - I...
