  1. Rivian - Built like a Tank - Full Size Crew Cab Truck vs Rivian R1S Wreck

I'm not sure the Full Size truck gets a zero here. The truck has a crumple zone which is designed to absorb impact. Hopefully, it did it's job. The damage to the Rivian looks far less, but the reality is that Rivian is totaled, even though it doesn't look like it should have been given the...
  2. Software Team Needs a Revamp

If you are rebooting your computer every week, maybe its time to get a new computer. I have Macs that I've used for a decade and rebooted them as many times as I can count on one hand. Someone spending $100K doesn't want to have to reboot their infotainment every week or constantly deal with...
  3. RAN Pricing has gone up again!

Rivian needs to actually make a profit to stay in business. They haven't been good at doing that, if you haven't taken notice. Let them have higher RAN prices. I use EA considerably and I rarely pay less than $.55 a kWh so keep things in perspective.
  4. Weird: I dropped off my R1T for service and now Tesla is offering me a 48hr Test drive 🕵️

And y'all laughed at me when I said when you connect your Rivian to a Tesla Charger, Ole EM is going to pilfer your data...
  5. RJ Scaringe gives graduation commencement speech at alma mater, RPI

One more thing....5.) If you are going to introduce a power tonneau cover, don't *uck it up repeatedly.
  6. RJ Scaringe gives graduation commencement speech at alma mater, RPI

4.) Invest in reliable QC and build out a robust service network to ensure a consistent and positive customer service experience. Couldn't resist! Meanwhile, very sage words from RJ. Very glad he is the CEO of Rivian.
  7. R2 Validation Units first look. Production reconfirmed to begin first half 2026 at starting price of $45K.

Reaching into the archives for a oldy but goody! I see you!
  8. US HOUSE LIKELY TO KILL EV TAX CREDIT, SPEAKER JOHNSON SAYS

I also appreciate the civil debate. We are all in this forum (mostly) because love Rivian and want to see it succeed. Underneath all of that is a commitment to trying preserve and protect humanities only home. What I find disgusting and unfathomable is how utterly stupid this administration...
  9. US HOUSE LIKELY TO KILL EV TAX CREDIT, SPEAKER JOHNSON SAYS

#1 You aren't forced to do anything. Last time I checked, nobody was showing up to your door with a gun to your head forcing you to buy an EV. #2 We don't reduce planet killing emissions we are dooming ourselves and future generations. Last time I checked, humanity doesn't have a back-up...
  10. US HOUSE LIKELY TO KILL EV TAX CREDIT, SPEAKER JOHNSON SAYS

EVs are generally money losers for OEMs because of the investment it takes to create infrastructure to build them and the components (especially the battery) far outweigh the costs of equivalent ICE vehicles. Last time I checked, Rivian was still losing $35K per vehicle sold. The point of...
  11. WARNING!! EVBASE ISSUE

I'm sorry, but after looking at the website, I have to agree with OP and others that it is very bleeping confusing. OP, in good faith thought he was ordering what he was ordering and his invoice said what he was ordering. If you have to do some gymnastics to figure out what you did and...
  12. ATTN: R1S ‘Silver Paint’ owners

I was totally thinking about your previous post!
  13. Unlocking the car at home is maddening

The most frustration free experience ever is to always just use the key fob. In my stable I have a Genesis GV60 and not only does it have all the bag of tricks as Rivian (including apple watch unlock) you can get into the vehicle with your face. It has a face scanner on the outside. Once...
  14. A Beautiful Disaster — Rivian Is Not Ready for Prime Time

You need to read up on behavioral economics if you don't think people who spend $100K on a product don't expect that product to reflect the kind of value and ownership experience reflective of that investment. Apparently you haven't read or heard about any of the exchanges Rivian (specifically...
  15. A Beautiful Disaster — Rivian Is Not Ready for Prime Time

I'd feel a certain way if I spent $100K on a vehicle that has issues and service is overwhelmed and slow to fix them. Human nature. I've said this as long as I have been on this forum. You are buying a beta vehicle when you are buying a Rivian. They are a new company and they are going to...
  16. A Beautiful Disaster — Rivian Is Not Ready for Prime Time

You clearly don't understand internet forums or human nature if you don't think people who spent $100K aren't going to come into a forum to whine about it when the price tag doesn't match the experience they expect. Go to the Honda Fit forums where the price tag is $23K and see how much...
  17. A Beautiful Disaster — Rivian Is Not Ready for Prime Time

Your point is well taken but when you have had the level of frustration the OP and others have had, you want to vent to a community that cares as much as they do. We are pretty passionate in here and the folks in this group are much more willing to hear people out and provide meaningful advice...
  18. A Beautiful Disaster — Rivian Is Not Ready for Prime Time

Bottom line: Rivian service experiences have been very inconsistent and SCs are overwhelmed with backlogs. We can sit here and trade barbs about whether the problems are systemic or if people should be more patient but in the end, the service experience needs to improve. This is still Rivian's...
