  1. Rivian wall charger can't connect to WiFi

Many ā€œappliancesā€ that connect to WiFi only connect to 2.4 GHz networks, and won’t connect to combined 5 GHz/2.4 GHz networks. That’s why I have a separate 2.4 GHz SSID in my house network, for those appliances. I also set up that SSID as a guest network so that the appliance can only connect to...
  2. 110 w charger

Are you trying to charge daily using the 120V charger? Do you have a Wall Charger that works?
  3. Rivian to raise $1.3B from sale of bonds. Premature?

It is a private institutional offering. The market will never see the bond offering, so very likely they already have a buyer lined up. ā€œRivian Automotive, Inc. (Nasdaq: RIVN) (ā€œRivianā€) today announced its intention to offer, subject to market and other conditions, $1,300,000,000 aggregate...
  4. Rivian to raise $1.3B from sale of bonds. Premature?

IIRC, Tesla did pretty much the same thing back in the day. It isn't lawsuit material. But I agree with other posters that the size of this offering is kinda small. It is obvious they will need to take on more debt and/or sell more stock in the next three years.
  5. Interesting observation on Tesla Supercharger installation vs. the others (EA, CP, EVGo, etc.)

They do exist. You have to realize that at many of these super site locations, you’ll have like 20 on one side of the road and sixty on the other side of the road, so technically that’s two locations, but really, that’s 80 in a single location. But, fine, now that I look, 100 was an...
  6. Interesting observation on Tesla Supercharger installation vs. the others (EA, CP, EVGo, etc.)

Because there are a lot more Tesla vehicles on the road than all other EVs combined. They build big stations because they have to, to support their customers. When Tesla was just starting to build their Supercharger network in 2013, they’d build 2-4 station locations. A 6 station location was a...
  7. Interesting observation on Tesla Supercharger installation vs. the others (EA, CP, EVGo, etc.)

ā€œIndustrial ratesā€ aren’t a thing. For high power grid connections, you get hit with demand charges, which make it more expensive, not less. That’s one reason why companies charge like $.50/kWh when the normal residential rate in the area might be $.30/kWh (the other reason being capital...
  8. First Tesla Supercharger with "Magic Dock" CCS adapter successfully charged a R1T. This is fantastic!

I saw a video of a Lightning charging at a Magic Dock and it was only taking up one spot, similar to a Rivian. So it does seem to reach, at least at some of the locations (Supercharger stations are not all built the same way).
  9. First Tesla Supercharger with "Magic Dock" CCS adapter successfully charged a R1T. This is fantastic!

Unknown, but unlikely is my guess. No one has gotten NEVI funding yet, that’s around 6 months out and it’ll be doled out by individual States at that point (which means potentially 52 different set of requirements ... Governments have zero regard for efficiency). As it stands now, Magic Docks...
  10. First Tesla Supercharger with "Magic Dock" CCS adapter successfully charged a R1T. This is fantastic!

The V4 Tesla Superchargers have a taller cabinet and resulting longer cord. They are apparently being installed in Europe right now. Don’t know when they’ll come to the US.
  11. First Tesla Supercharger with "Magic Dock" CCS adapter successfully charged a R1T. This is fantastic!

Those are destination chargers, not Superchargers. When you click on that icon, the pop up says Wall Connector, whereas Superchargers will say Supercharger. A very big difference!
  12. First Tesla Supercharger with "Magic Dock" CCS adapter successfully charged a R1T. This is fantastic!

In the Tesla app, click the profile icon top right. Then swipe the icons to the left until you see the one that says Charge Your Non Tesla. Click on that to see the map. So, who will be the first to try it out? Iā€˜m too far away from one.
  13. Real world range, approx. equivalent to Model X LR

I recently made trips to the LAX airport and back (about 220 miles round trip) in both my 2022 Rivian R1S Large Pack and my 2021 refreshed Model X Long Range (the current latest version of the Model X). Both times, I drove spiritly, all freeway driving. In both cars, starting at 100% charge, I...
  14. Home Rivian Charger, ethernet works

Yeah, try charging at 40A for a while and see what that does.
  15. PSA! Rivian doesn't recommend using a Tesla adapter with Rivian Wall Charger... it melted my pin

I'd stick with a natural gas pool heater - an electric one would be expensive and not work as well, and there's nothing wrong with a gas hot water heater either. I'm thinking of going induction myself for the stove top, but just haven't done it yet. For three EVs, I'd look into a load sharing...
  16. PSA! Rivian doesn't recommend using a Tesla adapter with Rivian Wall Charger... it melted my pin

First, this whole discussion is obviously related to North American since Rivian doesn’t even sell in Europe. Second J1772 isn’t used in Europe. And there are two different CCS standards, one for Europe, one for N. America. And why are you bringing up CCS, a DC charging system? All discussion...
  17. PSA! Rivian doesn't recommend using a Tesla adapter with Rivian Wall Charger... it melted my pin

It was built with a 400A service, but originally into a funky split panel that had a 150A breaker for a sub panel and the main panel was 200A. We recently tore that out and replaced it with a proper 400A panel. Due to space constraints, the electrician used commercial panels. So we have a 400A...
