I think that makes less sense. Amazon is an unpopular (by public opinion, not utility), bloated online retailer with no experience making automobiles. GM is a middle-of-the-road automobile manufacturer with proven interest in EVs but no good plan right now.
Neither company needs Rivian...
I think that this is where we'll start to see EV makers being valued like car companies, not tech companies. Sucks for Rivian and for people who bought at IPO prices, but we're probably getting closer to the more appropriate valuation for the long term. I'm waiting until we hit $15-17 to...
Do you have an answer to the question I asked (as a reminder: do current Rivian owners who switched from Tesla regret not having access to the Supercharger network anymore)? If not, I'm not interested in having this conversation.
I think that statement is a big jump from what I said. My question is about the ease of traveling long distances in an R1T and needing to recharge on the road right now, as experienced by those who have switched from Tesla to Rivian. Eventually, every charging network will be built out - so...
I think my biggest question on this topic is regarding the difference in charging infrastructure. I'm sure the R1S and R1T are fantastic, and I'll be very happy if/when my R1T Max Pack arrives. But compared to the supercharger network, I'm not as confident in the ability to get across the...
I agree that the front looks cheap with that fake grille. I'd like to see one with that "grille" area color-matched to the main truck color. Too bad I can't photoshop.
That explains a lot. I got an email at about 5:30pm today offering a first drive. By the time I opened it and signed in at 5:39, reservations were full. I guess that's because the invitation has actually been up for hours...
But just think of all the additional youtube videos you can watch in that time of other people having fun in their Rivians. You'll shave MINUTES off of your initial delivery / orientation time, because you'll already know everything about the truck!
We stopped by the Service Center today and it looked like the same five Rivians were preparing for delivery. We also drove around the front and ended up meeting Niger, who gave us an impromptu 45-minute tour + Q&A with his R1T. He was an awesome guy - really knowledgeable, and answered all of...
Rivian gets a lot of heat from...everyone, but I do respect their attempts at communication since the price raise debacle. I've gotten more emails from Tony in the past two months than I have from Tesla since I reserved my Cybertruck in 2019.
Thanks! Hauling a motorcycle has always been my #1 reason for getting a truck, so if I can't get my Energica into the bed I might as well stick with my current setup until something bigger comes along.
A few people tried this with Teslas back when they were still fairly new. Didn't really work out. I think it might be too late to start a new vehicle wave in any vehicle in which it doesn't already exist.
Two questions:
1. For those who had EVs before the R1T: any regrets on not going with the max pack? My experience with Teslas with the mid-200s ranges made me opt for the biggest pack available. However, I know at some point it doesn't really make a difference. If chargers are 150 miles apart...
Anyone who's taken delivery in Houston planning on listing their R1T on Turo? It'd be great to be able to rent one for a weekend, instead of having to rely on Youtube videos to decide whether or not I'd like it.
Yes, I know. My original response was intended to illustrate that more goes into the equation on when you receive an R1T than your order date, so the guy should absolutely realistically expect his vehicle in late 2022.
Max pack - but it goes to show that reservation number isn't the end-all be-all. Could be that R1T order #60,000 sees his truck this year, if it's the right configuration.
