275/55R-21 Michelin Defender LTX M/S2 ordered from TireRack, delivered to my office. Installed today -- in my warehouse by a mobile installer. How did I live almost 60 years on this planet and not utilize mobile tire installation before? Holy smokes, it's the bee's knees.
Super easy...
If you're wondering how 'tough' they are (I have both), the Rivian one has survived a 5' drop (with additional lateral acceleration) onto hard concrete in a pouring rainstorm - and still works flawlessly.
My son was detaching it from a Tesla station last month in the pouring rain. As he slid...
I'll probably get flamed for this.... but I think with all of these 'rear end' collisions, maybe the brake light orientation on the Rivian isn't so great. On my R1T, the upper brake lights are fine, but the little ones on the actual rear corners of the car seem far too small.
I realize...
same on my R1T. I thought it was my imagination --- but indeed, it is 'slower' and I seem to need two tries to get the darn garage door to operate. I'm on the cusp of just grabbing my old 100% reliable clicker thing and sticking it on the visor.
I think Rivian sometimes invents...
I charged several times over the Xmas holiday on a roadtrip. As long as there was nobody waiting (and I would have moved instantly), I used the handicap charger stall because it was wider and allowed the Rivian to charge without disrupting the other Teslas. I never left the truck, so I'd be...
So while I do think the R1T is too big for most of my normal daily driving, @Cycliste makes a good point.
If you enjoy human-powered transportation, the #1 feature of the R1T is being able to sit on the gear tunnel doors and get shoes on/off for riding. I cannot possibly count the number...
I have a T -- frankly, it is too big for what I really need. Wife + corgi + road bikes hanging off the back. It's a right PITA to park it 'downtown' in my little hamlet, let alone in our public parking decks.
On the other hand... we took a holiday road trip last week (our son was home...
I think with enough fake news and bad press about EV explosions or something, we can successfully convince the driving public that even tapping the rear of a Rivian is worse than a Ford Pinto.
As a kid who grew up in a Pinto, we never worried about a rear end collision once the American public...
Just installed. No issues whatsoever Gen 1 R1T. I then removed my EV1 display unit (which was a godsend for a full year) and signed up for SiriusXM. It's a pity I cannot use my existing XM accounts for the R1T, but the price is pretty minor.
So far, so good.
Umm... if I'm 'trapped' in a vehicle (ICE or EV) with smoke coming into the cabin, you can bet your sweet bippie that my foot will smash a side window, and I'll climb/crawl out.
Traveled from North Carolina to West Point NY this year. With forecast temps in the low teens plus light snow (and the forecast turned out to be correct) we took our Subaru. No regrets.
Ever since my 12v died (and mobile service did come out in a few days to replace), I've frankly been...
