You'd think that if they could bring it to market with minimal warranty concerns they would have done it. The fact that it's been left to the aftermarket is telling. Even more striking that they don't even offer an accessory version.
My take on the mild regen is that it's being done to make the switch from ICE to BEV less jarring. The same goes for a milder "throttle" map in the beginning of accelerator pedal travel, creep mode, etc. All things that emulate ICE characteristics. This puts people in a comfort zone where they...
I kicked my next guide contact a month down the road. R1T launch edition, but I'm seriously considering changing to a Max pack and then back should the supply chain issues get corrected (I actually expect it to worsen over the next year). There's even a chance I just say "F it" and bail...
This feature should have been there from the beginning. I know for certain Grand Cherokees have had the feature (Auto Entry/Exit or Ingress/Egress) for almost 10 years. I'm sure it's also in other similar competing vehicles such as Land Rover, etc.
It's about cost savings - especially for the "legacy" OEMs. Even for a new company, most aspects of the power supply design for a module can effectively be copied and pasted. Derivative designs with known performance characteristics and reliability. This in turn has the possibility of reduced...
I'm considering the opposite in order to shift the timeline out further. This allows more time for the product to mature and see how bad the economic collapse is. Not keen on paying $76k to be a beta tester going into a depression. I'd rather buy time.

Perfectly functional hardware.
How critical is their "security" if you:
Don't live/put your entire life on your phone?
Don't put financial stuff on your phone?
Run VPN and Firewall?
Don't do stupid stuff?
Maybe that's just me living dangerously...
There's several things I could do, including tearing the app apart and repacking it with a more relaxed manifest and reduced SDK level. It just isn't worth the effort.
;)
Without getting into specifics, we have both Android and iOS devices. The mobile applications have been artificially limited by SDK/OS version for no functional reason.
At the moment, it appears to be part of the onboarding process, but guide said they could likely find a workaround and that it wasn't required to operate the vehicle. There would obviously be a loss of phone as key & remote monitoring features, which is fine with me.
I just had my guide call. I asked specifically about two specific items.
Requirements to have a phone with app installed (my phones don't support the app, and I'm not changing devices)
Ability to get seat time before signing on the dotted line
Overall experience was very good. Discussed our...
