Frozen over charging port wasn't a problem because apparently the charger at the hospital isn't on the backup generator. Thankfully power was restored later that night.
Just a follow up - finally got the car in to the SC for this and a bunch of other minor issues. Turns out the microphone module wasn't clipped into the correct location, but was "floating" up above. They said they had never seen that before, but clipping it into the base was an easy fix. Problem...
Very hard to see because the damage was pretty minimal (to my car), but here's at the scene and then a couple of later pics showing the scratches underneath (also hard to see due to the reflection).
The last pic is the other guy's car.
So my repair at the body shop (rear bumper and parking sensor) took just over a week from when I dripped it off.
In contrast, I had a few minor issues that I brought up after delivery (some trim, the driver door not properly aligned causing the latch to dent and scrape, and muffled voice on...
Just drove in the Catskills on Sunday during a very foggy early morning and night. The automatic high beams were pretty useless. Switching to low helped somewhat, but having traditional fog lights would definitely have made a difference.
Has there been any talk of an update to allow for the...
Update:
Went to pick up the car today. Looks like they had to replace one parking sensor, the bumper assembly, and some touch up on the liftgate. No structural damage. Total bill was about $5600, of which about 40% was labor based on a quick glance at the numbers. Not sure how that affects value...
Ouch. I guess I'm lucky on the waiting front. I dropped it off the day after Thanksgiving (my appointment was for the next Monday) and picking it up today. I suspect that it was only the bumper that needed replacement but I'll no for sure later. When I first brought it in for the estimate they...
I've tried asking Alexa to turn on the heated steering wheel and it worked, but it's definitely not consistent.
I notice how underwhelming the heated seats are on the Rivian when I compared it to my rental Chevy Equinox while the Rivian is in the shop. That thing heats up very fast and the heat...
Please note: If you ask Alexa to "turn on the tushy warmer" she will add a sushi warmer to your cart. While it is unlikely to affect your range significantly (depending on how much of said warm sushi you consume), it is not an effective way to keep warm on a long drive. However, if she can also...
So I just made the mistake of putting a couple of turkeys in the frunk (rubberized side up on the separator board) and got some raw turkey juice that leaked out. Cleaned the board and the actual inside with some dish soap and warm water (how long does that drain plug take?) and noticed that a...
I've been trying to use Alexa/Spotify to listen to podcasts, and as inefficient as I find the process, it's generally doable on longer drives once I get the right playlist going. However, what is unacceptable (and I know this is a Spotify issue and not Rivian's fault) is that at the end of each...
No, but honestly it took a back seat to a lot of other things so didn't follow up yet (although it is on my service ticket for January). Maybe I'll get around to it this weekend
I'll confirm with the body shop when I go back in, but they did say they get the parts direct from Rivian. It might be as you say because there really aren't any third party manufacturers yet, but based on your experience I'll be sure to check again with them and the insurance companies.
Definitely not the impression I got, but again, might be different rules in different states. I also mentioned to their agent that I might be filing for diminished value and they said they'd note it and that it seems reasonable given that the car was only a month old.
I also had two previous...
Not sure if it's state dependent, but here in NY I was told by both my insurance agent and the agent of the other driver's company that while they can recommend a body shop they cannot force me to use that one, and I can use any shop I want.
In fact, when I spoke with their agent I mentioned...
Not in your area, but I took a hit from behind about two weeks ago, and when I checked with the Rivian/Nationwide insurance agent he specifically directed me to a certified body shop and said not to try the SC, as they don't handle that. Curious if that's site specific or if you were just...
I assume this is only available when ordered with a new vehicle and not as a stand-alone purchase. Is there any talk of Rivian selling a full vehicle protection as an after purchase add-on, similar to how they have the XPEL front protection available in the gear shop?
