Yes, we will have to agree to disagree. This communication could imply that their design is complete, and they are simply producing their marketing materials before an official announcement and unveiling. Or the statement could just be intentionally vague and non-committal. Either scenario is...
We don't. The response doesn't actually address anything. Saying absolutely nothing produces the same amount of tangible information.
The manual tonneau cover has been an option in the configurator / visualizer for years. Yet, nobody outside of Rivian has even seen a CAD drawing. Naturally...
Rivian didn't quietly remove the powered tonneau cover option from the visualizer / configurator. They publicly announced the removal when they decided to halt production of the malfunctioning covers.
But I agree with your prediction, and have been suggesting this across forums and subreddits...
This cover really looks great, you guys. Well done!
Your solution could be stronger than Rivian's mythical manual cover due to the fact that ~11 slats are supporting the applied weight rather than four panels. Of course, we don't know what those panels are comprised of, so it's tough to say...
That’s good to know, thank you!
Agreed. I actually wrote to BAKFlip last night, and they responded this morning that they are “working” on covers specific to the R1T and to check back “in a few weeks.”
This could be just a generic response, but it could also be good news. Even if Rivian...
I have more confidence in the aftermarket community to develop tonneau covers than Rivian. They’ve had years to produce a manual cover, and yet we still don’t even have a picture. They simply have more critical things to focus on. I know we are supposed to see one s00n, but I am skeptical.
Interesting. Thanks for sharing. It’s pretty wild to me that a company like BAKFlip, who specializes in tonneau covers, hasn’t developed one for the R1T. Has there ever been such a glaring need in the truck world?
Does this actually work? The Maverick bed has slightly different dimensions. I admit that it’s a good looking option, but for $1K+ I would want it to fit correctly.
I was able to check out the Hummer SUV at a preview event in LA a few months back. It’s definitely fun, and I think it could be a compelling option if you are looking for an off-road capable EV but don’t have convenient access to a Rivian Service Center.
I still prefer either Rivian by leaps...
I’m curious if you owned, or have driven, one of the refreshed Model Xs? They are a big improvement over the first gen X despite not doing enough to distinguish the exteriors of the new models.
I have a Model X Plaid, and it’s a great vehicle for my family. My wife actually prefers it over the...
This is awesome. I have no idea if the time invested would be worth it, but the final product is so polished, and professional looking, that I think you could sell these covers if you wanted to.
Haha. Thanks for sharing. I’m much more interested in something like the SP or GFC where I can still use the truck bed and benefit from the extra bed height.
I’m sure this is a compelling option for the right customer, but the simple RTT on the aforementioned campers is plenty for me.
It’s...
Has anyone heard about any recent progress regarding a R1T camper? Specifically, with Super Pacific or GFC? I reached out to both companies several months ago, and their answers were essentially what was posted earlier in this thread: that they have taken measurements, but the design is...
I want to switch from the S to the T, but I am waiting for the powered tonneau to come back. I believe I would already have the truck if I had stuck with the R1T from the beginning.
Thanks for the quick reply. This is all really tempting. I’m looking at configuring a motorized hoist system to make mounting and dismounting easier. It sounds like I need to pay ORR a visit.
Have I mentioned how awesome your truck is? Haha.
Ah, cool. Well, regardless of who made the call I think everything looks great.
How exactly do the risers on the bed rack work? I’m curious if it’s possible to raise a full size Skycamp to bridge across the roofline from the bed rack to the roof rack.
Also, have you tried removing the bed...
