  1. Idle fee hate

You have to charge idle fees regardless of demand to teach good behavior to the people who are incapable of learning it without a huge fine.
  2. Are you still in love with your LFP battery?

Because it lacks context. Many 2021 Mach-Es are years behind on updates, and Ford has stopped updating them, even at dealerships, due to an issue with one of the modules, that they may, or may not, fix. When updates come, they are 12 or more months after promised, even recall updates take many...
  3. Turning off My Wall Charger

Over a month, if your unplugged charger uses more than 2 or 3 kWh, something is very wrong. That would be 67 to 100 WATTS per day.
  4. Are you still in love with your LFP battery?

Talking about Ford and software in the same sentence is an oxymoron. I have two Ford's with Sync4a, have 5 years Mach-E experience and 3 years Lightning. Ford is awful at software. My Lightning still doesn't have the ability to precondtion encounter to a fast charger (Mach-E does, and has had...
  5. Rivian charging vs Tesla

Seems to me that asking a company that is losing billions to lower their charging prices because you want cheaper charging is crazy. You don't charge there, they don't get your revenue. If lower volume and higher margins works for them financially, good for them. Go where the cost is lowest.
  6. From an EV9 to an R1S – My Experience & Opinions

Why do you care? Most level 2 charging takes place while you are sleeping... The only time I care about level 2 charging is on a trip with a hotel, where it won't reach 100% by morning, so I have to do the math, hit a fast charger, and arrive with enough to get to 100% by my 8am departure...
  7. Doug DeMuro Can't Stop Praising R2

The challenge with destination charging, besides whether it is free, and whether it is available when you arrive, or ice'd, is speed. Many hotels offer speeds of 6kWh or less. Arrive empty, and you won't make a big dent by morning. I pick my hotel, do the math, and hit a fast charger if...
  8. From an EV9 to an R1S – My Experience & Opinions

I appreciate the comparison as we're doing that. But the charging speed is clearly misstated. Charging SPEED is the RATE at which a vehicle charges. On a level 2 charger, most EVs max out at 48amps, a few like the 2022 and 2023 Ford Lightning can do 80amps. RARELY is that necessary...
  9. Introductions & Welcome Thread 👋

Considering an R2 after the upgraded navigation and a year of production. Currently own a 2022 Mach-E and a 2022 Lightning, looking to replace the Mach-E in 2027. Concerns are whether Rivian can hit the promised price point and volume necessary to be successful in the longterm, and whether...
