I reserved maybe day 2 or 3. Have an R1S already that I got with early pricing.
Got the invite to order on 6/17. Reminder email on 6/20.
I'm also within 15 minutes of 2 Rivian service centers. Within 45 minutes of 3 or 4 service centers.
I won't be getting one.
I'm curious what's driving the 4-hour drive time requirement.
Is it range anxiety? Have you owned an EV before?
For the average person, you are rarely driving more than 10-30 miles a day. On weekends, a typical day might be 50-200 miles, which is still well within range of most modern EVs...
Good info, thanks everyone.
I drove 7 miles back to my friend's house to return the trailer and I did NOT plug in the harness.
Anecdotal data for sure:
- Efficiency was over 2 mi/kwh, but over a shorter distance, not on a freeway, bike not in trailer.
- Previously it was 1.5 or lower, over a...
I totally forgot this is a feature now.
But like OP, mine has never worked since the update a while back. And I've tried and looked at every setting.
Fortunately, it isn't very important to me.
This weekend I was towing a ~450 lb trailer with a ~310 lb dual-sport motorcycle. The Rivian estimated the trailer weight at about 500 lbs.
The trip was ~85 miles each way. Under normal circumstances, I can make that round trip without charging and still have plenty of range remaining. As...
Wait, what?
Who's going to turn on camp mode and car wash mode every time they park in their garage?
Rivian has a specific setting for your home. If it is parked in your garage, simply set it as your home location. You can have it unlocked all the time (or locked) and it shouldn't keep...
Are you sure? The Traveler SUV should be approximately the same size as the R1S. In fact, most of it is because of that big spare tire thing hanging off the back. Without it, it would be much shorter than the R1S.
Google says Scout without the rear tire is 190.9". With it, it is 207.9"...
Maybe you're referring to one of my posts. I've said it a few times here.
I love my Rivian R1S, and 99% of the time I have zero range anxiety because I rarely drive more than 25 miles a day. In over three years of ownership, I've probably charged away from home only about 10 times, and even...
I have a reservation and I got the email to order this morning.
I have an R1S and I don't want to downsize at the moment. The size is perfect for us, slightly faster, and more capable off road (most likely).
Not going to get an R2 I decided (could give my wife's 2024 Hyundai Kona, previous...
Almost never. Outside of keeping some emergency items in there (and some toys for my son).
With the 3rd row being folded down in the R1S 90% of the time, there is more than enough room. Last time I used it was when we took our dog (which took up the entire rear of the vehicle) up the coast of...
Ah, just saw your post about your wheels.
I'd recommend keeping your 22s. I have a spare set of 20" wheels with aggressive Mickey Thompson Baja boss for off roading fun. But my normal day to day is 22" which (I believe) look better and since that's 99% of my driving, why not keep it.
I get...
I think this is the one I used on both my Hondas and Tesla in the past.
After that, you can use any amplifier. I used a Rockford Fosgate and crossovers when they ultimately went to the individual speakers...
I've been out of the car audio game for many years, but before I stopped working on that stuff, car infotainment systems were already starting to become very integrated.
Removing the radio/screen or tapping into anything would seriously screw up something else, or make it not function entirely...
Sure, but I can almost guarantee you, Chevy is still getting a ton of telemetry from your vehicle. You may be preventing some general user convenience features like Spotify or delaying some sort of update.
Now I don't have experience in Chevy specifically, but I know other manufacturers...
I didn’t read every post in the thread, but I wanted to chime in since I work in cybersecurity and IT infrastructure, and have for 25+ years. My previous role was specifically focused on vehicle cybersecurity.
One thing that’s important to understand is that every (all I think?) modern vehicle...
Oops, didn't realize you weren't the original poster either. :p
Didn't like the 22" Michelins? How come? I have them, and they're average tires. No complaints.
I don't think you have to be limited by Costco. Do you have America's Tire or Discount Tire (same company, called different things...
What's wrong with "boring pavement donuts" if that's what you need? If he wants something that looks cool, then come right out and say it. Pick up some Geolanders or Baja Bosses. Crap efficiency but if you aren't routinely pulling 250+ mile days, who cares. :p
I have the 22" variants of the...
