The 0-60 times were more to show how Rivian is on another planet compared to the premium competition at this price point. Not all that matters, but hard to overlook, even if you don't want the performance. My angle is that the R2 is very well rounded and an understated performance bargain...
Borealis was a limited run, so not surprised there. El Cap might come back. Red Canyon was discontinued for like a month and I threw a very preemptive funeral for it. El Cap could also come back as a new shade of dark grey for the R2. I'm not worried. Once thing is certain, there will always be...
Premium brands around $60k? A BMW X3 starts at $56k and 0-60 of 6s. Audi Q5 is at $53k and just below 6s as well. Volvo EX60 at $52k and 0-60 in 6.5s. To get "comparable" performance, add at least $10k to these prices. Once the non-LE R2 comes out, it will likely be cheaper and still faster...
Sounds about right, maybe a few thousand dollars more but I doubt it will touch $60k.
Even at $59,999 - it is a still bargain compared to the comp and specially ICE vehicles. You have supercar speed, good range, plenty of storage and modern tech. No one else is offering that combination at that...
I cannot believe the board decided to offer this man a trillion dollars to keep him running the company. Would have been cheaper to just let him go and let someone who wants to actually sell cars takeover and would done wonders for sales with a less toxic name at the helm. What an infuriating...
Looks aside, that is a lot of value for $60k. And quite honestly, some of the changes are actually for the better (ie coil over air suspension). If it weren't so polarizing, I'd say good job.
While I do think this would boost sales slight, I just hope they just retool the tech in the CT to...
My car is 3 years old. Zero stains. That includes coffee, juices, dog fluids (?), random spills, etc. Very easy clean. We own a Tesla as well with the white interior. Also easy to clean that one as well btw. The synthetic leather used in both is very durable and easy to clean with a wet rag.
I'm the only person who owns an EV in my family and my friend group, and as so, am the defacto guy for EV related questions. Almost everyone, whether they were interested in EVs or not, has sent me a video or clip about the Scout. Even those who have said "I would never get in EV" said that this...
Has anyone from Scout ACTUALLY confirmed this? I am so annoyed by all these armchair analyst guestimating stuff. From what I've seen, no one from Scout has actually confirmed that things have been pushed to 2028. From what I can see, someone translated a German article from a he said she said...
FSD V14 is good enough. Certainly not perfect, but will take you from point A to point B with minimal intervention. At $99 a month though, I'm driving myself. If it were say $25, I could see it an assist for commuting duty. While they are still issues to be worked out on the actual system, the...
Price. $8,000 is a lot of money for a one time purchase and $99 a month is also a lot for a monthly subscription. I'd imagine the take-up rate would have been higher if priced at $5,000 a month for the one time payment and $50 for the monthly subscription.
Not a necessity, so the price isn't...
Yeah I didn't think it would require a keen eye to realize Rivian is very much looking over Tesla's shoulder. It'd be hard to argue otherwise, if anything. Hard to blame them either. Tesla left the footprint for how to be a successful EV startup. They are also leaving the footprint on how to...
Great question and my answer would have been very different if someone asked me a year ago.
Long answer: If I'm in a rush and need to get somewhere far, I will most likely fly - as someone who hates flying. Otherwise, ICE cars (to me) sole benefit is fueling up quickly. In every other aspect...
Had an EV9 for 3 months. Great ride, incredibly comfortable seats and very quiet interior. The software was fine but bland and the app was terrible. If I wanted a gas car, I would have bought a Telluride. The EV9 felt more like a traditional ICE vehicle than an EV.
Traded it in for a used Gen 1...
Indeed. I think people underestimate the take-up rate of higher trims, specially sub $70k. I'm sure Rivian is aware of this also. Based on past experiences in talking with people at dealerships, the highest trim usually sells the most up to a certain point. People want all the bells and...
RJ said: "On March 12th, we are going to be unveiling the different vehicles across the portfolio."
My understanding is, based on what Rivian is saying, that we are going to see a configurator for the Launch Edition on March 12th with details on what the rest of the lineup entails, including...
I still don't know how RJ does it. Man is a saint. If every time someone threw a mic in my face and started with "YOU GUYS LOST BILLIONS OF DOLLARS OMG" I'd walk away. New product launching and that is your starting questions? I get this is partially for investors but yikes.
Love that...
People here are making very valid points and are having an honest discussion about safety. This is being brought on as a change Rivian made with Gen2 vehicles that many have seen (including myself) as needless step backwards. However...
Tangent incoming:
As for why the big stink, media. This...
I originally thought it was a copy and paste situation, but I'd imagine their have to be some serious cost savings on the backend to justify doing door handles this way. Explaining to people how door handles works on a car just shouldn't be a topic you have with people experiencing your vehicle...
