I don't see why not keep the R1 line fresh with their newer tech and future proof it. I'm sure we'd also welcome faster charging (and better charging curve) along with potentially better range. They have their hands full with the R2 and R3 and all the autonomy stuff, but it wouldn't surprise to...
My wife wanted 0 part of Tesla and didn't get the whole FSD thing. I've tried it before and found it helpful, and knew she would find the benefits since she really does not care for driving. She doesn't care for cars either and never initiates conversations about them, but over the last few days...
I'd echo most comments. Outside of this forum, I don't see any of the regular people I talk to about their R2 reservations taking a pause over the upcoming Lidar technology. Most regular folk don't know what Lidar is and don't understand the whole self-driving tech. R2 is a more affordable R1...
My wife is as disinterested in Tesla or self-driving as one can be. She took a demo recently of a newer Tesla with FSD and was sold immediately. Before anyone hops in to say things like "I'd rather drive the car" or "FSD is dangerous, stupid technology!", I'd like for you to consider some people...
Fair enough! I'm the SUV guy, so I'm a lot more forgiving to the Rivian.
Having the car yell at you for opening door while its still "on" because you need to press the "start/off" button on a car with no engine is truly beyond me. I complain about this every time I drive the Mach-E. My wife...
I was driving my R1S this morning and switched to the Mach-E during lunch, and pulled this same maneuver and the Mach-E kept rolling back while in drive lol Ford really needs update the Mach-E. It is really showing its age and IMO just needs some buttoning up to make it competitive again.
In ICE cars, best practice is to wait for the car to come to a full stop before shifting from Drive to Reverse to avoid transmission issues. Other EVs seems to have similar safeguards that either don't let you shift quickly from P to D, or the car seems to struggle to know what you just did if...
I think I say at least once a day to my wife when I'm driving that "blindfolded, I would never know I'm driving a 7,000lb car". It certainly does not brake or get out of its way like one would expect a 7,000lb car to. I had a Ford Explorer ST before this, and that felt heavier despite being...
All fair points! I originally thought the steering was light, but after getting used to it, I find it adequate for most maneuvering and not sure if you've driven the new quad, but an even bigger improvement there in sport mode as far as steering weight and feel. Electronic power steering will...
Man, I hate to be that guy...but the styling is growing on me a bit. I hate it, but can also see myself overlooking it based on those specs. Only time will tell if I warm up to it when it comes stateside.
People like to complain, specially when it comes to new brands and new technologies. Oh, and Evs have become a bit of a punching bag in the media as of late. This is why you'll hear most headlines talk about how bad and unreliable Rivians are. It gets clicks and helps push a narrative. All the...
The Roswell service center opening in the ATL area has done wonders for me, personally. A lot quicker availability and much shorter drive for myself. Having other service centers open in SC, north FL and NC has also helped relief the once maligned ATL service center and its several month...
Having driven both, the 3 is a better driving car than the Y and gets better range. For most though, as you said, the Y makes mores sense. The Y should also be on this list, but don't even want to get into that.
I'd agree with your assessment if the criteria was value, but It's clearly not...
They don't charge anywhere near as quickly on Tesla chargers, which are still the best option. The advertised range is also not great, with real world numbers not exactly matching them.
Source: I owned an EV9. Advertised at 280ish miles when I bought it. Could maybe get 230 miles on a full...
I truly don't understand Car and Driver. The Lucid Air is a fantastic driver's car with great range and charging speeds. The Model 3, people how they feel about Tesla, is also a fantastic car to drive with great efficiency and good charging speeds and range. I'm ok with those two where they are...
Been driving a lot of different cars lately, and can't help but feel like the R1S does not get enough love as a legit driver's car. In a garage of 3 cars and occasional rentals and driving friend's vehicles, I'm always stunned to get in the R1S and realize how well done the driving experience...
I love my Rivian, and can't agree with most of the comments from the OP. With that said, I do agree with the final sentiment. I can't recommend it to EVERYONE, but can recommend it with the caveat of patience with things like getting service appointments and other minor issues. If you know what...
Was it a Tesla station open to other EVs? In other words, did it show up on the Rivian map or was it one you found on Google? I have found Tesla stations to be super reliable as long as they are open, otherwise I've seen these kind of errors occur.
