The trailer rated range isn't exactly what you'll be getting. Note it says you've averaged 1.37 miles / kWh towing the trailer so doing math, 142 * 1.37 = 194.5 miles. That's still better than your old X. We used to tow with an X and now to with a R1T PDM as well. Our towing range and math don't...
One sad day I had to go to the Quartzsite Love's to charge my mother-in-laws Bolt. 4 Electrify America chargers, 3 working and one broken, and a 2 hour line for those working chargers. In our Tesla we'd use one of the 120 superchargers in Quartzsite. If in our Rivian we'd use one of the 6 RAN...
Hmm. I have a R1T PDM and when I step on it it scoots right along. I don't THINK I need to be in sports mode. Although if I am demoing the zip I usually do switch to sport mode. TBH I rarely do any of this. I appreciate the sand mode of the Performance. This I do use.
I use a Tesla mobile connector and an adapter to charge our R1T regularly. As soon as I plug in it turns red. Give it another 20 seconds and it turns white for a few seconds then green and starts charging. It does this every time. No need to unplug or anything -- just wait it out.
I personally...
I used to tow our Alto A2124 with a 2017 Tesla X100D and switched to a 2023 Rivian R1T Dual Max Pack Performance the end of last year. With the X I kept speeds to 55 mph max for more range. We averaged about 520-540 wh/mile but hills, wind, and temperatures all impacted those results. I remember...
The way EV charging can be billed varies so much it is hard to compare anyway. Gas upon the USA is always $/Gallon. Electricity for EV charging may be $/kWh but can also be $/minute, a connection fee, a combination of any of these and that can vary over time.
Quick, which is cheaper, charging...
I have experienced a derated supercharger several times. The strangest is at Santa Nella where they have about 50 V3 chargers. Last two times I've been there (I avoid it now) all superchargers except 10 have bags over them and the "working ones max out at 48 kw -- unless they are all busy and...
There are two places to exclude Tesla chargers. The filter on the map screen only hides them from view, not the router. To have the router ignore adapter required superchargers navigate to anywhere -- one destination only, and before pressing GO press the settings button right next to the GO...
I built a spreadsheet for this very purpose but couldn't get any input from anyone. The math is in there is someone wants to contribute. The sheet was for actually receiving the adapter but maybe we need another for the letter. It was also based on VIN not purchase date but they should corelate...
What you said except I tow my camper at 60 mph max. A mile a minute is fast enough for me. 1.6 m/kwh with 2023 R1T PDM.
The math works out to about 235 miles of range full to empty. We don’t do that though typically. Given adequate chargers we go 2 -3 hours and take a break while we charge. We...
We live in a hilly area so my consumption is all over the place. Attached is my weekly report from TezLab for our R1T “Sir Enity.” Overall last week I averaged 124% better than rated. That’s pretty dang good. Sure I only drove 70 miles for the week, which isn’t much. When going uphill it sucks...
You can't just cherry pick charge costs. You have to include the whole picture.
In a gas vehicle you are suck always going to the gas station. It's a bonus not pleasurable task you do one a week for your typical home to work commute. On a road trip you may go fill up the night before and then...
You give people too much credit. Just when you think you've made something ID10T proof, along comes an "Individual Demonstrating Intelligence Obfuscation Thoroughly" who says, hold my beer. Yes, it says Rivian only at the top too.
Check PlugShare rating on RAN chargers. It is interesting. I see very low ratings for some RAN and when you look at the details the low rating is because non-Rivian people are trying to charge and reporting a failed charge. That lowers the score. RAN in general have always worked for me*.
* OK...
Dual Motor Performance R1T here and I've had no problems going off-road except the mud gathers on my running boards. I found some guys suck in the mud as I wandered through the woods and pulled them out and back to a more solid surface. I'm even running the 21" all season tires.
Except sometimes the charger you're at is slow for whatever reason, so you move. Maybe the first plug in failed for whatever reason so you have to unplug and plug again -- there's another one gone and another one gone... another one bites the dust.
I am an outlier to this methodology. I do a lot of road trips and many of my miles are not driven on roads in my state. The old method of taxing gas balanced this out. You refueled as you drove so if you were driving in Idaho, you were paying Idaho road tax through gas purchases. Drive in Texas...
