R1T Dual Motor Performance Max Pack with about 9500 miles. Lots of highway miles. Lots of twisty road miles. Lots of towing miles (so All Purpose means AWD). They still look good to me. Photos are of left rear, left front, and penny test on each. I haven't rotated them yet but will soon.
Excuse me for a moment while I get my pedantic hat — ah there it is! (Puts hat on …)
A vehicle flat towed (all 4 wheels on the ground) behind an RV is just called “a towed.” A vehicle where the drive motors are placed on a dolly so only the non drive wheels are on the ground and then the dolly...
Sometimes the difference is just a few miles. I'd rather have the buffer. Apparently, because we did get the Max Pack. Preorder prices made it a $7k option for me. I still don't get the range I think I need towing but it will have to do. I'm glad I didn't get the large pack nor the quad. I'm...
I have a couple very different trailers I tow. The bigger and heavier camp trailer on the left is more efficient than the cargo trailer on the right. It's all about aerodynamics. I've only had the opportunity to tow in the winter so far so I'm eager for this summer when we can go camping and I...
Picked up the truck at the end of November 2023 -- no email nor tonneau for me as of yet. I'd rather have a working powered tonneau, but perhaps that isn't in the cards.
My truck says my lowest is -45 and highest is 6035. ElectraFi (data logging) has it as -81 feet and 6031, so close. The truth is somewhere in there. There is a water tower along the route with a line that says, "sea level." El Centro is also the largest U.S. city to lie entirely below sea level...
My original configuration had the under post shield as well. Long story short I bought one off the R1 Shop rather than wait for my specific order (I’d still be waiting). It didn’t have the underbody shield but did have the front PPF. I find this more valuable for my use. I’ve added EV Sportline...
I bought Autosocks for our R1T on 21” but have yet to use them. I used the size fitter on the Autosocks site to get the right size. Since I haven’t actually used them I cannot confirm fitment.
The miles remaining is just rated range for driving 55 in 70° temps on flat ground. Pretty worthless. The GPS is the key. It is looking at the actual speed limits, temperature, elevation changes, and winds.
My only complaint is the nav shows arrival state of charge in those same bogus miles...
We get around 1.5 m/kWh but I would be willing to bet it will be much worse in that cold and ice you experienced.
We have visited Oregon with our trailer several times but I've yet to pull over the Siskiyou pass. We have either gone up the coast through the redwoods (beautiful drive), or via...
The thing is you need to not look at single case comparisons. Look at the whole trip. You start from home full on cheaper electricity. Mid trip you pay these DCFC prices. Maybe you have a hotel with free charging overnight. At your destination there is cheap charging too. You have to add it all...
I always try to call any potential campground ahead of time to confirm they will let me charge my EV. Avoid KOAs. They have a strict policy against it unless they have dedicated J1772 chargers at the campground and most do not. Some campgrounds welcome EVs. Some will charge an extra fee. Just...
We gave up and moved out of California when they decided to charge more if you make more so they didn't have to reduce their bottom line, charging the highest rates in the country. Poor people need power too and at the sky high rates of SDGE they cannot afford it. Even though I have all the...
I started out putting up "too many" panels. I didn't want to sell back to the power company at 2-5 cents / kWh when they charge 15-80 cents per kWh. That motivated me to get our first EV. We both liked it so much we got another EV so we each had an EV commuter. NOW I needed more solar so I added...
That's why there are options. Decide what is important to you and what is not. You're right, to me range is more important than offroad capability or 0-60 sprints. To you and others it is the opposite. Neither is wrong in wanting what they want. We are paying a lot for these trucks. We should...
Range is still king. I have booked a campground just because the next supercharger was JUST that much too far to make. I want the most towing range plus once I am at camp, I want the most daily exploring range. When wandering across the vastness of Canyonlands 4x4 trails I want to know I'll get...
We have the JuiceBox and have it programmed to only charge midnight to 6 am weekdays and midnight to 2 pm weekends. There is another hack. Just tell the truck to charge midnight to 2 pm every day and just adjust your max charge down on weekdays if your charge is below what you can achieve in 6...
