  1. Most economical wheel choice in the long run?

The MSRP cap at 80k will drive a bunch of people to the "IRS Edition" that someone mentioned on a different thread.
  2. Most economical wheel choice in the long run?

Right at 2600 a year assuming OP's tire life matches my observed. I may be harder on my tires than others.
  3. Most economical wheel choice in the long run?

Undoubtedly making the unicorn 21s the base (critical for EPA ratings) were part of the deal with Pirelli. No way they did that for any engineering reason.
  4. Most economical wheel choice in the long run?

Here are a few threads on the topic of replacement tires on the 20s. I left off the Falken Ziex tires which could work as well. https://www.rivianforums.com/forum/threads/michelin-defender-tires-installed-on-20-wheels.11944/...
  5. Most economical wheel choice in the long run?

Lowest long term cost will be 20's up front and then replace the All Terrain tires with an all season tire. Pirelli AS Plus 3, Michelin Defender LTX or possibly Nokian One HT are viable options to meet or exceed the efficiency of the Pirelli 21 tires. There are several threads on the forum...
  6. R1T Max Pack + Dual Motor range update from Rivian: 335, 360 and 400 miles range

Looks like the Dual Motor does have different gear ratios front to back. Interestingly no motor disconnect mentioned for any motor configuration. Vaguely described here. https://stories.rivian.com/difference-between-r1-drive-systems
  7. R1T Max Pack + Dual Motor range update from Rivian: 335, 360 and 400 miles range

Yeah. I guess fewer rotations per mile would be more efficient. Not sure what percentage that is relative to wind resistance and tire rolling resistance. I thought Porsche was doing it to allow for high wheel torque at low speeds and also enable higher speeds that would not be possible with...
  8. R1T Max Pack + Dual Motor range update from Rivian: 335, 360 and 400 miles range

Is this even a thing for motors? On engines it helps to keep the engine running at its most efficient speed. I know motors on pumps have a best efficiency point, but I am really not sure how/if that translates to vehicles.
  9. R1T Max Pack + Dual Motor range update from Rivian: 335, 360 and 400 miles range

Pirelli does not have a warranty on the 21 inch tires at all. Those are Scorpion Verde All Seasons. The warranty would exist for the scorpion Verde All season plus or plus II. The Scorpion All Terrain Plus does have a warranty, but Pirelli claims that it doesn't cover the Riv-Elect tires...
  10. R1T Max Pack + Dual Motor range update from Rivian: 335, 360 and 400 miles range

I am wondering if this isn't a mistake from Rivian or the 274 factors in the RUS. Wasn't 274 miles the original range for the 20's before they updated it to the current EPA 289. The configurator seems to have reverted back to the 274 without explanation. That is a ~5% hit. So maybe...
  11. R1T Max Pack + Dual Motor range update from Rivian: 335, 360 and 400 miles range

I am a bit later to the party than some of y'all. I had thought the battery size was extrapolated using 135 kWh and 300 as a baseline. By the time I put my reservation in battery size for the max wasn't listed.
  12. R1T Max Pack + Dual Motor range update from Rivian: 335, 360 and 400 miles range

This is speculative right now, but if the primary benefit of conserve mode is elimination of motor freewheeling resistance, we will see a reduced benefit with the dual design so actual range increases from quad to dual will be less than advertised in conserve mode since dual conserve will only...
  13. New EVgo Level3 chargers not compatible with Rivian R1T?

I just charged this weekend at a new EVGO in Olathe, KS. It worked great. Added benefit was the BBQ restaurant next door. Whatever this is it isn't a global issue. The charger I used is new enough not to be on the map.
  14. I don't feel valued as a customer

My wait time was very short relative the the rest of this bunch, but what I can offer up isy post delivery experience is that Rivian has offered me better customer service than any other car dealer/manufacturer I have ever had to deal with. Their pre delivery communication is terrible, but only...
  15. Installed 20" AT wheels with Falken Ziex CT60 A/S275/60 tires

Any updates on your experience with the Falken Ziex tires? They seem to be the best fit for a 20 inch road tire matching the OEM load and speed ratings. I am in the process of putting 20" wheels on the truck coming from 21s to avoid costly tire swaps. Was planning to run with the Pirelli ATs...
  16. Tire wear condition at 15k miles, 10 months (photos)

That is my plan. Problem is that by the time I bought a set of just wheels and a set of tires separately, I'd end up spending more overall, even assuming either better tread life or a warranty. So buying the rivian combo and just replacing fairly early on my dime is still cheaper. You can...
  17. Tire wear condition at 15k miles, 10 months (photos)

According to Pirelli, none of the Riv-elect tires have a tread wear warranty. The 21s definitely don't because that tire line has no warranty after 2014. The ATs theoretically should because the Scorpion all terrain plus does, but Pirelli says different. They consider them OEM tires since...
  18. R1T size feedback?

I haven't driven a Tacoma in 15 years so I cant make a direct comparison there, but I drove an F150 just prior to my R1T and occasionally drive one for work. I doubt you find the truck too small unless you are road tripping with 3 kids in the back. Kid separation is key for success on the...
