Yeah, it's my wife's vehicle. But it has FSD, and free Supercharging. So it does make a good road-tripper (when not towing, which is most of our road trips.)
Well, crap. I may have to drive to LA for this…..
I mean, 18 hours down, sleep, pick it up in the morning, 18 hours home isn't unreasonable for this, right?
Edit: And I don't even need to drive the Rivian, I could take the Tesla with free charging (this would fit in the back) and it would only...
Update: I received the camera, and have done a little testing. It seems decent for a dash cam.
One *HUGE* note: If you read the original post in this thread, it says "If you’re the lucky winner, we’d love for you to share a honest review after using the F17Elite. Your feedback can help others...
Agree on the Supercharger notes.
Don't assume *ANY* Supercharger you're used to can be used with the Rivian. Use Rivian navigation to add charge stations. If your favorite Supercharger doesn't show up in Rivian navigation, don't try to charge at it.
(There's one V3 near me that isn't open to...
Yep, no problem.
While Tesla's Supercharger protocol as originally deployed is different than the protocol used by CCS that "NACS-native" non-Tesla vehicles use (which is why a NACS-native R1T can't charge on older Supercharger stations,) Tesla used the same "communication protocol" as J1772...
Even before CCS officially added V2X, really the fact that it's making a direct DC connection between battery and charger means it can pull power out of the battery instead of putting power in.
This is not a Rivian suggestion, this is a Tesla suggestion. No non-Tesla vehicles support plug-and-charge with a Tesla subscription.
Because Tesla can track you more when you start the session in the app, they can't with plug-and-charge. Tesla gives the discount because they can do more...
Just to reassure you, unfortunately we are in a period of transition that makes public EV charging a bit less obvious than it should be.
I purchased my first EV in a similar period. In the US, the first public high-speed charging standard was "CHAdeMO". It was the standard that Asian carmakers...
That's Porsche's name for the color. That's just what OP was using because that's the name of the color.
Yeah, it's "blue with the slightest hint of greenish in certain light."
Yeah, my 'preferred' electricity consumption is a bunch of obtuse rules that none of my "smart" devices allow.
I have a solar panels and a Tesla Powerwall. Tesla offers two usage modes:
1. "Time of use" - don't run the house off Powerwall except curing 'peak' price times, then export as much...
The point is to help people who *don't* know about the utility's TOU, or how to set it up. The interview with Wassym made that clear - if you already knew how to do this, this feature isn't for you.
Not every feature is for you.
TrueDad is CCS, not NACS. He uses the same charger unit on both R1S and Mach-E.
Note that the 2025s are Gen2 with CCS; 2026 is Gen2 with NACS. TrueDad has a 2025, so CCS. (You can also see the plug in multiple shots in his videos - it's clearly too big to be NACS.)
There's no reason it should...
Regarding your first point - the Rivian wall unit at home, it is possible to replace the cable to give it a NACS end instead of a J1772 end.
Rivian had the guide posted on their website a couple months ago, but it looks like they took it down, as the page is now a "404 page not found": Wall...
I've only done "serious off-roading" maybe 3-5 times, no problems. I do "rough gravel and dirt roads" regularly. I picked the "gravel and forest", not the "tougher/jeep"
