I was definitely scared of the amount of time it would spend in the shop, knowing nothing was dealt with yet. It's a shame, this car was perfect, but I have 2 months to find another one. I'll just keep looking.
I will be asking my guide a lot of questions. It still has 2 years of warranty, which is plenty to work out all the issues. But I am still looking at this as a bridge to an R2. The guys at the Trenton service center have been fantastic the last couple years, so I am sure they will give me the...
So my lease is up in March, and I have been combing the interwebs for another Gen1. I have been waiting for the perfect vehicle, and I think I found it! Launch Green with Forest Edge interior. I just reserved it on the Rivian preowned site. 109 miles! Where was this car that it only has 109...
The lease on my Gen1 is up in March, I'm shopping for another low mileage Gen1 to replace it. There is nothing wrong with the Gen1. It does all I ask of it.
I've been talking to a lot of Rivian sales folks, as my R1S comes off lease in March. One of them said that he had heard the R2 configurator would come online in March.
Rivian just makes me feel good. Maybe it's all marketing, and a lot of it is, but it brings me back to my younger days. I was an avid climber, skier, snowboarder, and mountain biker for most of my life. I stopped climbing several years ago, just no time, and getting older type stuff. I still...
Lease prices have almost doubled since I bought mine two years ago. Also, I want to buy something that I can trade in for the R2 when I'm ready, don't want to be locked into a timeframe.
My residual is $71k for a vehicle with 40,000 miles. I am looking at the same color R1S I have, with 25000 miles tomorrow. They want $57,000. Doesn't make sense to buyout my lease.
I am in the same boat as far as my lease goes. Let me add to your list about what makes me have trouble even considering another vehicle at this time. But first some things I've learned about other EVs while test driving or researching and they are not all the same by a long shot. I don't think...
My sales contact told me that pics of the pre-owned vehicles on Rivian's website are on cars.com. Just search on the VIN. I very much didn't know that!
Buying out the lease will be the same as buying another used vehicle. Same taxes and reg fees, etc. I do know this vehicle which does have value, but paying a $8k premium to be out of warranty in a year anyway doesn't make sense when I can buy a used one with half the miles or even less. There...
I'd have to pay sales tax on the lease buyout as well.
I'm leaning towards looking for a good deal on a low mileage 2023 or 2024 Gen 1 Quad. I have about two months to find the right deal. As long as there is plenty of warranty left, I can address most issues I find. If there are wear items...
If I keep my car, the factory warranty will be done in about a year. That's why I'm looking for a lower mileage used R1S. I blow through mileage like it's going out of style. I want to put off buying that extended warranty as long as I can.
Residual is at least $10K more than what I can get on the used market. I will have to pay $2k in overage, but that is still an $8K difference. I am super happy with it, but I don't want to take that hit.
If I buy a used R1S, I will definitely get an extended warranty as I drive 22k miles a year...
