I agree, they seem to be indicating that you can float charge the gen2 battery. It's not clear from the diagram if you can use the rear tow hitch cables or not. They point to the positive terminal under the hood, but not a reliable negative.
Also, I believe what C12farmer said above is also...
Hah, yeah, they also saved some money and made those things worse as well. I only got my Gen2 Rivian about a month ago, but I really like the auto high beams with their sections for turning it off just for oncoming traffic. My Model 3 with automatic high beams basically don't even turn on in my...
As another Michigander, I find this interesting, But, I recall the beginning of the winter last year just to be really slippery. I had winter tires on my Model 3, and it was still very slippery. After the first freeze or so, things became normally slippery again and my winter tires didn't have...
I honestly miss just regular old cruise control. I have a Model 3 and I rarely use the cruise control now because I just don't trust the SW, and even when turning on TACC, it now starts to add FSD logic to things. That's the exact thing I'm trying to avoid. So, that's why I can't use it anymore...
If the IR energy is redirected back out, then it won't be heat that heats up the car. But, it'd be going through the glass twice. So, if the IR is converted to heat in the glass, then it could be twice the heat. However, there is also thermal conduction of the heat from inside the vehicle to the...
If the film keeps the vehicle cooler, then the glass may end up cooler as well.
However, I wonder why they don't just install it on the outside. PPF and color change film goes on the outside, and it very similar. That's what I'd do. But, I live in Michigan now.
I think you're right. We should all go back to horse drawn carriages until computers can drive us with greater safety that horses. ;P Although, I guess that's kind of what Waymo is doing, slow speed limited area that the driver needs to be familiar with, aka a horse.
Also, for those that think...
I agree it's not a great comparison. But apparently the recent version does allow for some adverse weather:

I suspect to really appreciate the differences of the Gen2 Quad vs Tri, you'll want to get the new S5 (?5S) Michelin rubber. I know I'm looking forward to it just for my Dual. But, I suspect it'll be the only way to nearly put down the power. 20" AT tires will be entirely outmatched for much of...
The main reason I want sport mode is for the handling difference, not the power. But, I'm not sure how much better that is, because I haven't done a side by side comparison. I'm going to try it on the quad loaner that I have to see if there's much difference there.
I still believe it's a safety concern. It seems like a good idea to have more safety, not less. Also, it just seems like a bug. I don't know why you're being so defensive of a bug when other vehicles don't have the long delay. But, if it's not a concern for you, that's fine.
I just realized that it takes about as long every time I start my Rivian to sync up with the TPMS as it does when I change my wheels on my Tesla. So, maybe it's just having a problem remembering which sensors to sync with, and it can be fixed with a SW update.
Really? That's not a very helpful comment. Do you go check the PSI of all 4 tires before starting driving every time? Maybe on the Rivian low PSI would be more visible, but most of my previous vehicles it'd be hard to tell if the tire was 5 PSI low. And knowing that my tire has a slow leak while...
Yeah, it seems to take like 10 minutes of driving before it updates the first time. That seems like a safety issue for tires that deflate while parked. My Model 3 updates within like a minute, which makes sense. I can't tell how often it updates after the first update, because it doesn't give a...
I expect the policy to be based on the populous opinion, not based on the raw facts. That seems to be how the different policy decisions are made. So, I think it mostly depends on what Trump and those around him think of Rivian, which mostly means it depends on what Elon Musk thinks. Tesla was...
I haven't had my vehicle long enough. I've only done it on the dry. One added benefit is that the AWD is always active. So, that's a point in the favor of safety. It probably won't be until snow/ice driving that I'll be able to tell much difference, and then I'll generally be using snow mode.
It's been stated before that the Sport mode more power is correlated with the Lowest ride height. Also, the extra power is only available from launch to like 50 or so. So, anything above that is the same power with or without sport.
I also didn't pony up for sport mode. I find there is a delay...
