I would have them install a 125A sub panel in the garage close to where you want to charge, and then it will be super easy to add and upgrade the charger(s) for your EV(s) now and in the future as things change.
This is awesome! Count me in for the dual version if you decide to distribute it! Any chance you could track down the other side of the connector the factory pad uses to avoid tapping the wires?
YouTube ads sure don’t pay the bills to buy an R1T and invest all the man-hours to disassemble it. ? We get the privilege to watch this as a by-product of the actual business Munro is in.
Is that out of the Bellevue Service Center? It was the first Ocean Coast I’ve seen- the tech that came to fix my issue said she couldn’t believe they gave one to a mobile tech as they’re not the cleanest bunch.
On mine, I was cleaning the bed the other day and noticed that when I ran my finger along the inside of the track I could feel a slight hump on the plastic bottom side of the track exactly at the spot where the cover binds and gets stuck if I don’t force it to keep going. I found the same...
If you have a Launch Edition and did not receive your wristband key, you are entitled to one once the next batch is manufactured (due in August). To make sure you are in the queue for one, you should contact Rivian Service and have a service ticket opened up for the missing wristband (if they...
I would strongly advise against relying solely on the phone key. Mine has stopped working several times, once requiring a service center visit to resolve and once learning my wife stranded. It is strictly a convenience feature and you should always have a backup.
It is a really fat cord, if you close your door on it you’re not going to have a good bottom seal and you’d have to adjust the closing tension so it doesn’t roll back up like it does when you squish a small child.
Not all 6AWG copper is the same- SOME 6AWG is rated for 60 (or greater) ampacity, but NM-B is not one of them. It maxes out at 55A due to the 60C ampacity limitation on NM-B per the NEC.
If you’re going to suggest spending the money on a new EVSE, why on earth would you go for a convoluted solution with Tesla adapters in lieu of just getting a 14-30 standard J1772 EVSE like this one?
Splitvolt 24A NEMA 14-30 EV Charger with 16 ft Cord, Level 2 240V, Fastest NEC-Safe 30 Amp...
You might want to double-check with the inspector that he caught this is a 60 amp circuit and not the much more common (for EV chargers) 50 amp. 6/2 NM-B does not meet NEC for a 60 amp circuit.
The Rivian Wall Charger is a slightly atypical EV charger installation due to the higher output, and...
This is a much better solution than the tray cable. These are high amperage conductors and I’d feel much more comfortable with them protected in solid or flex conduit. At OP’s length of 60-70’, voltage drop starts to become an issue and going to 4-gauge for the conductors is a good choice.
The portable charger uses a 240 volt 50 amp plug (NEMA 14-50 type), while your dryer uses a lower-capacity 240 volt 30 amp plug (NEMA 14-30) which is incompatible. You can purchase an adapter that goes between them, which will require lowering the charging amps in the truck’s charging screen to...
Mine was about 7 weeks. I got hit with an additional monthly payment for a vehicle I no longer owned, but the money was properly sent back to me eventually. The process was extremely unprofessional with no transparency as to what was going on.
Nobody has received one. They are vaporware with only a few one-off hand-built ones for the demo trucks, and nobody has received any kind of ETA of when they might actually ship. You cannot go through with a purchase of a truck with one, they are removed from all orders at purchase time.
