Nice. I like the idea and the execution. Much smaller than mine .
I re-used a wooden frame from the MY that fits perfectly. It definitely provides nice support for full weight. It doesn't have the stop for the board, but there is no risk of the board falling off the forward ledge as it is fully...
Nice. Did you make that?
My carpenter skills are not up to this:)
Edit: found it

It's for the spare and likely (hopefully) won't be used at all.
If you are like me and replace at 4/32, maybe I could get one of your old ones? Or if you have an odd one for another reason (at a good price)
This is for you if you want to sleep in the car (2 people) and also have a full size spare inside. It's involved as it requires removing the second row and DIY a bed frame. If you are ok with a full size spare on the hitch or roof, this likely not worth it. If you just want to remove the second...
If you have a gas heater, you can just run a cable to the heater. That powers the fan of the heater, and will give you the whole house heated. And probably take less power than a space heater.
Silly that our gas heater is dead when electricity is out :-)
Not yet :-)
Rivian could push an OTA that starts complaining of course. Or other related features may not work, but I can still turn on and off e.g. climate in the back. @RivianBlueSLC drove 800 miles without problems.
Unfortunately, the Dalton is very inspirational. I wanted to drive that all the way for years (I did the first part to the Arctic Circle years ago, but I flew to Anchorage). Maybe when the last kid left to college I can take the time. For now one full size spare will be the goal.
Thanks folks for all the help folks.
I started a new thread with step by step pictures.

Inspired by this thread from @RivianBlueSLC and some help from @FooF

I was thinking of removing the second row for extra storage when sleeping in the car for a while...
It's unlikely anyone else, not even Rivian, can do it that cheap, though. Tesla is all in-house and at scale, while the EA's of the world have to purchase the chargers, with insane markup and likely ongoing support contracts.
What's the best way to disconnect this? I figured the white connector (tab is below on the left, fingernail didn't do it, but once you figure out the mechanism you can use any small tool ).
Is the black connector reusable? Or do I have to cut it?
I have a 12V fridge in there right now, and it's good to have some air around it so I don't mind the rounded shape so much.
It gets the fridge out of the way, but it requires a trap door or some other easy access from the top.
