I like adaptive when I am happy to sit in one lane in heavy traffic, but I agree it would be nice to have the option of plane control for when passing in lighter traffic.
Did bugs disable my adaptive cruise?
Last evening I was driving 101 in Olympic NP and a huge amount of bugs hit my windshield. After about an hour car told me adaptive cruise was no longer available due to a fault.
The wipers and fluid (mostly original from delivery) did virtually no good...
I have seen that solution in another thread.
I suggested that to Roadside Assistance ( it can be done by mobile service) but they booked me in at SC and ordered a new TCM in advance . I hope they are not doing unnecessary and expensive work but I have a new unit now.
Mine started losing cell connection shortly after software update too. At first it was intermittent and then totally dead.
I hope they have found a better supplier for this unit or fixed the quality problem.
I was quoted $90 when at SC for warranty work. Due to warranty work taking 3 instead of 1day they comped the rotation.
They told me diagonal swap only, not what is shown in service guide above.
I plan to use Discount Tire in future.
The full history is documented in multiple posts in this thread, but to summarize:
The TCM (Telecommunications Control Module?) needed replacement.
If that has not been diagnosed yet and it becomes the diagnosis then it will not be fixed during your first visit . A new unit needs to be sent...
I had this a few times over the winter. No idea why but it doesn’t happen anymore.
I blew some air in to dislodge any dirt that might have been in there even though I couldn’t see any.
If it doesn’t go away you might need to find another EVSE to charge at.
It is a balance between cost, range desired and tire requirements.
If you want to do big road trips go for at least Large with 21 wheels, otherwise save money with a smaller battery.
Update
It was the TCM. They believed me and ordered new unit in advance. It took 2 weeks to arrive.
Scheduled for 1 day visit but difficult firmware and software updates resulted in 3 days at SC.
All good now.
Thank you all for the good information shared in this thread.
Final update:
Vehicle fixed.
Dropped at SC on Thursday 18 April. TCM unit was replaced. Originally told one day, but vehicle would not perform firmware updates. On Friday updates loaded. I could see status of vehicle in app by mid afternoon, but they could not finish by EOD (5pm). Vehicle...
