The R1 will recharge the 12V battery from the HV battery when it reaches a certain threshold. I think this is around 12.2V. My 12v fridge has an adjustable low voltage disconnect threshold. You could look to see if your fridge has a similar feature.
I agree that public charging has gotten more expensive, but I don't think your calculations are accurate.
I doubt a 2007 V8 GX is getting 20 mpg on the highway, especially if the R1S is getting 2.0 mi/kwh with the same route and conditions.
You're also omitting the amount of energy you have...
This is all probably due to battery conditioning if you're parked outside in cold weather. A battery pack is going to show a higher voltage as it warms and that's probably enough to cause some of the effect you're seeing (i.e. it will look like it overshot the state of charge set point). It's...
Dumb story. There's absolutely no explanation for why they're having trouble other than someone talking about preconditioning. Please don't support their FUD business model by clicking through to the video.
He speculated that the charger derated during one of his sessions due to overheating at the handle. That's more of charger thermal management issue than a vehicle issue but I'd guess the dispenser thermal loads would be lower with a higher input voltage.
Someone needs to pay for the roads and registration fees like this are probably the least invasive way to make up the difference in state and federal gas taxes.
Mileage-based fees wouldn't address interstate travel. This is obviously a bigger problem in smaller states in the Northeast than...
The Rivian Call Center and service employees probably think it's very important. One person posted elsewhere that they had their Rivian towed because the orange gauges freaked them out.
That's neat--the $70 display I bought looks similar but doesn't have settings for auto dimming or screen savers. Can you upload a custom photo as a screensaver?
The most important change, in my opinion. Hopefully that will cut down on panicky overheating motor posts.
Improved the warning zone for the motor temperature gauge to take into account vehicle pre-conditioning, especially in cold weather conditions.
I took a 6 kwh/5 kw Bluetti system on a recent trip to a cabin that only has a 20 amp 120v circuit. 6 kW is insignificant for long trips but I was able to keep the R1S battery pack at a steady SOC during the week by charging the Bluetti from the 20 amp circuit while I was out on jaunts during...
