I've also noticed this – the hostility and superiority coming from it. Of course, this isn't true of everyone. But gatekeeping information is not the way to go. Some people will always push it, especially If it isn't their day job. There will always be over hype, clickbait, etc.
But that's the...
I appreciate Rivian being bold and trying things like the front-folding seats and power ports on the rear. Sad to see them go.
I just hope the powered roof rails remain, that seems like a relatively cheap and easy thing to keep that would really be valuable.
Don't conflate someone's ability to influence with a populations ability to be influenced. One of the great things is that you don't require qualifications to speak on a topic. What a sad place it would be to have that system. We'd be stuck with watching the news at 5 PM every night – because...
What a lot of people seem to be missing. Is while it may not be new information to you it doesn't mean there is no information in there for others.
For the power users of the brand you will generally get new information before any content creator could put together a script, film and edit it...
That's such a frustrating experience, I'm sorry you're dealing with things like this.
Thank you for the kind words, I do zero advertising - I believe in the product speaking for itself and anecdotes like this keep me going.
Given your experience if there is anything else I can add or do...
HA is a great option for those self-hosting. I may publish a guide on how to do this securely. I believe people should do what they feel is right for them. The reason I started RR was to make it a "dumb reach" for folks who don't want to think about it.
I found over 200 instances of HA that...
That's definitely #2.
A few factors play a role in this.
It takes a lot of energy to heat a cabin, which is often a product of waste heat. If you don't precondition the cabin well before you head out, you're now putting that work on the drivetrain/battery. Batteries themselves also as overall...
The issue is how Rivian communicates it. Right now it's done via an opaque process.
1. Rivian lowers net battery capacity to reserve for thermal management, none of which can a customer see
2. Driving in the winter is just less efficient
I think you're talking about #2, but #1 is still happening.
Let me know what you find. I've been begging Rivian to add battery temp to the API.
This thread has inspired me to add some features to the dashboard for Rivian Roamer.
Here's my Gen 1 Large
Gen 2 Tri Max R1T
Gen 2 Tri Max R1S
It does, it just take a crap ton of energy to heat such a large thermal mass and Gen 2 just doesn't have a lot of thermal capacity to actually do that. This was evidenced by not having full regen until I am 30 minutes into a drive.
The HVAC system in Gen 2 is quite weak, I assume in the name of...
