Just to be clear, this way of driving is possible in every regen car I've ever driven, one pedal or two control, does not matter. In the two pedal setup when you step on the brake pedal it starts with regenerative braking only. Only if you push the brake pedal hard enough to call for braking...
I've tried to debunk the 'I drove stick' thing in another reply - I've driven stick for > 30 yrs and currently own 3 stick shift cars (I think I said 4 earlier, but forgot that I traded my WRX STI in when I picked up the Rivian).
I've explained exactly why it happens to me - no amount of...
I'm the OP , I currently own four cars that are stick shift and have been driving stick for 30+ years. I don't think this is the right counter-argument:
a) as a stick driver, I would more miss true coasting (clutch in and/or in neutral). But as I said - I can easily live without that, that's...
this does work, it is my hack to deal with the bucking I would otherwise get on some really bumpy roads on my daily drive, where I’m bouncing around in the seat enough that I can’t hold the petal still.
I wonder if the R1T driver ahead of you was just waiting to brake late?
Note that you will be able to see your own brake lights status while driving by looking at the Rivian truck image on the dashboard - it's subtle, but the brake lights in the dashboard model turn on/off , easiest to see...
In the 19-page "I cancelled my R1S" thread, there was a comment:
I was worried about 1 pedal driving for all of 5 mins on my first ever time driving a Rivian. I’ve had it for two weeks now and I love it. Couldn’t imagine not having it.
I've had my R1S for six months and I dislike how...
100% true. I don't think I'll upgrade to a DB12 any time soon. The only reason I keep the DB9 is that its looks have aged well and it is a stick shift V12 - that's increasingly hard to get in any newer car.
I get it, but what this is got us here :
Me: I've got a soft close on the porsche that is the opposite end of the spectrum from a rivian door
Reply: Why do you still drive a Porsche when the Rivian is X, Y, Z vs. the porsche?
Me: Because of 1,2,3.
The comparison was begged and I replied...
You're right! If one could only have one car the Rivian is a no-brainer - it's the car I want for the coming zombie apocalypse.
I was answering the question of why I "still drive the Panamera" and gave my reasons for it, trying to keep them succinct and get in a wink about the carplay...
Long roadtrips with the family is the use case for the Panamera. Just did a 2000 mile summer trip that would have been impractical with time for charging stops.
I drive a Panamera Turbo S e-hybrid, so its still faster than the maxed out Rivian R1S, 0-60, 1/4 mile, pick your metric, but not...
Tipping - My rider rating is fine and I've almost never tipped, so I doubt that is the issue.
The R1S door is problematic in my mind, my kids almost never close it correctly on the first try and I sometimes have problems. It's a really stark contrast to my Panamera, which has 'soft close'...
I too would vote for getting an Odometer back on the dashboard , like any normal car. Outside of daily driving where I already know the route, I use the Odometer on my other vehicles all the time down to the 10ths.
Use case 1: GPS is telling you to take a exit off the highway, you see the...
I'll going to give it a try. I'm just old, the first generation voice command products (like my 2007 acura mdx) were so bad I basically swore off the idea. (And my Amazon Alexa and I don't have the friendliest relationship either ... )
Wow, (most) people have some really unrealistic expectations for an 'update'.
1) pet mode to not require two separate clicks on the menu every time I use it. I get that there is some CYA going on, but for my 100th time I don't still need the disclaimer.
2) odometer on the dashboard display
3)...
Agreed. I would be fine with this set up except for that offset.
I wish cops would enforce the fender rule (in PA they tire can't extend past the body by regulation), it's dangerous for others on the road.
