I live in the Northeast and can easily take a day trip up to NH or VT for skiing in the winter or hiking in the summer. It's not a problem. DCFC along the way and L2 chargers at the mountains make it as easy as any ICE.
Honestly, It's probably more useful?
I don't think I ever noticed them or paid much attention to them. However, I might use them for some tools and things I otherwise keep in the rear well.
I love shoulder seasons when I can get away with no AC or heat. Though I'm usually driving in the low 70 MPH range so 2.5mi/kWh on 20s.
I can't wait until we can update the wheel size in the UI and I can drop to 275/60r20
We picked up our '23 R1S Quad last summer and took it on a 400+ mile road trip a week later.
I did a quick search to see where most of the chargers were on our route via ABRP and even Google Maps has a "show EV chargers" option somewhere.
Electrify America App was useful as was a subscription...
I sat in traffic for 4 hours to go 16 miles after the eclipse in the cold and while I don't know how much battery I used, I had plenty of charge to scoot 100 miles away and charge. And while all the Tesla's were packed at the SCs, the EA further away only had 1 other car.
I charged up at the mountain we were viewing and then planned my charging stop as far south as I could. Didn't have to wait at all other than the hours and hours of traffic.
Never been so happy to be in an EV!
And it's exceedingly conservative! You'll get to know it better and can choose to skip charging stops or choose different charging stops. I do it all the time.
It's like when you had a gas car and knew where you wanted to buy gas, you just went there because you knew your car and how...
The links say it's NMC but I wouldn't be surprised if there's an LFP variant in the cheapest R2, which has a range of 270 miles suggesting possible lower-density cells or reduced cell count.
I'm a little surprised no one has talked about the battery in the R2/R3 line.
Tesla made a big deal about the 4680 battery and how it was going to revolutionize the economics of their vehicles. It's being used in some MY and the CT but we haven't heard more about it.
BMW is apparently also...
Unless you saw it in the Superbowl add.
The center console doesn't split, it just lifts up.
The seats don't have the center strip.
We didn't see the dash, I don't think.
They actually said a lot of that in the Q&A that followed. I'd do it now mostly because they're shutting down production and it'll take them some time to bring it back and when they do, they'll naturally start with the highest profit options first.
A lot of the cost-cutting options are...
If it's the same size/dimension as a Bronco and has Rivian's touches, I'm sure it'll be a hit.
I know they've got some very thoughtful people who've been working for years on it. Moreover, they've seen how the R1 design has aged and what Land Rover and Jeep are doing in the space. That's the...
I had that issue on the passenger side. They replaced the seal. Until they did, I gingerly raised the window using a credit card to make sure it aligned. Then I tried not to use the window much.
I did buy from the shop but no real issues. Nothing unlike I've had with almost every other vehicle I've bought. It was all little things. Dented speaker grill, bass rattle, window trim, etc.
