  1. Suggestions to get smoke (fire) smell out of vehicle?

I have one of the cheap ones (it was maybe $60) and have used it a bunch--we have an old car that sometimes leaks in the rain and gets musty, also a shop/hangar office that gets mice from time to time. Seems to work great, but I've never used one of the expensive ones.
  2. Towing Report: Airstream Pottery Barn >> R1S Gen 1 (First Tow)

The Polydrop P21 seems to be a cheaper option. Lacks the cool retro vibe, but you save enough to buh an extra R1S
  3. Rear dampener needs replaced, just past warranty

This was pretty common on the early Model S/X screens. There was a period of time where you could upgrade to the then current spec newer computers (MCU 2) for $1500. It came with all new screens and a much more responsive computer--almost like getting a new car. That was a fairly common fix...
  4. Rear dampener needs replaced, just past warranty

This is -exactly- the way to look at it. You could even stash a monthly payment in a maintenance account if you want. I keep cars I like forever, still have a 2006 Honda Pilot in the driveway that I bought new, spent $1500 on it this year, but almost zero for the three previous years. The...
  5. Customizable Console Organizer (3D Print)

Just pulled off the printer--fit is absolutely perfect and looks OEM. I used Bambu PETG/CF which seems to be a good choice--I'm not 100% sure that the CF helps anything but the surface finish, but the part looks great, fits perfectly, and seems quite tough.
  6. Customizable Console Organizer (3D Print)

I had the same issue--fixed it by importing the files into Fusion and exporting them from Fusion directly to Bambustudio.
  7. Customizable Console Organizer (3D Print)

I''ve been using a lot of the BambuLab PETG HF. It prints about as fast as PLA, with a very nice sort of matte finish. It works well for parts that live inside a car. I also use a lot of Bambu ABS GF which is also nice for these applications, but you need a well ventilated area for printing.
  8. A2Z Adapter Recall: Typhoon v1 Exchange Program

Received my replacement today. It appears to be extremely well made (as did the origianal one, although the slider was a bit finicky). Outstanding customer support IMHO. I ordered one of the level 2 adapters today, even though I'm unlikely to need one for my driving patterns. My daughter...
  9. 2024.39.0 just rolled out to UAT

Spotify actually works though. Good music quality/Atmos is awesome in theory but when all Apple Music does is show a spinning circle with "loading content" it's kind of hard to judge the difference. Apple Music is completely non-functional for me in the Rivian.
  10. Apple Music completely broken?

it seems I’m not the only one—Apple Music worked a handful of times when it first rolled out, but each time only after a reset until I parked the car. It hasn’t worked even minimally in weeks, even after multiple resets/reboots.
  11. Apple Music Fails to Play with Spatial Audio Enabled

For me, it worked when it first showed up, but never for more than one drive without a reboot. It worked and sounded great with Spatial Audio, then just wouldn’t play after parking and restarting the car. I tried again after this latest update, now it doesn’t work at all, just says “loading...
  12. Today I F***ed Up - Range Cockiness

My range anxiety is completely gone since getting the NACS adapter--I've now charged at superchargers 20+ times and each time it's been flawless. I've driven though that part of the country (going to and from Oshkosh, WI) four times now with the Rivian, and the charging infrastructure stinks...
  13. EV Sportline Dashboard Phone Mount with MagSafe Charger: Installation, Mods, and Review

A few times I've found it useful--mostly when driving cross country. I have a number of aviation apps that overlay NEXRAD radar images on a map, and I use this when driving through areas of sporty weather. Sometimes the onboard Rivian nav app is just goofy, and I'll use the phone as backup...
  14. Ford Ditches Electric SUV: Is it Time to Address the Elephant in the Room?

Mine (a 26kw Generac) was about $11K installed a year ago and hooked up to natural gas. It required two automatic transfer switches because I had so many loads on my panel, including EV charging. I read an article somewhere earlier today talking about a shift to "EREVs" or "extended-range EVs"...
  15. Ford Ditches Electric SUV: Is it Time to Address the Elephant in the Room?

I think you misunderstood me—few if any people are worried about daily driving or commuting EVs charged at home are better for the normal cpmmute a generator that spends 99% of its time on a pad next to your house as a backup (with a transfer switch it’s a good size to power a large house) is...

  17. Ford Ditches Electric SUV: Is it Time to Address the Elephant in the Room?

They are inherently more complex, which means they will trend toward less reliability and shorter life (even the Toyotas). Also, hybrid batteries see many more cycles than pure EV, and tend to reach the end of their useful life sooner. I'm not an engineer, but in my (admittedly unsolicited)...
  18. Good news for NACS adapter shipments. Tesla ramps up production to 8K units per week

I took a trip from Tennessee to Florida yesterday, made 3 stops at superchargers (Guin, AL, Alabaster, AL, and Greenville, AL) All three worked flawlessly giving me 215kw or so to start, and not much tapering since I didn't have to charge much past 50% to reach the next supercharger. I drove...
  19. Good news for NACS adapter shipments. Tesla ramps up production to 8K units per week

R1S 35xx VIN and March 2023 delivery, just got the email. Things seem to be accelerating.
