Rivian employees who have purchased their trucks and taken delivery have used language directly stating they bought their trucks.
I have friends who work at Rivian, in engineering, for years, and they've told me they're aware of exactly 0 people who were simply given a truck for free.
Acting...
That's all good and well. Indeed, it's obvious many of us have many different opinions.
But to be fair, your original post made a statement of fact:
Since I believed your statement of fact to be inaccurate since I was a counterexample, I was simply providing the counterexample.
Look forward...
You might not want to hear this, but I guarantee you that they've released enough information for folks completely unassociated with the company and with no special incentives to buy trucks.
*You* may need more, but that doesn't mean everyone does.
For example, I don't need a test drive - I...
We're talking about AM, which - because of physics - has a terrible time coexisting with electric motors.
Most EV manufacturers have, in fact, stopped shipping AM radios. It's fact, not crazy rumor.
FM and Satellite - which are radically different from both AM and from each other - work fine...
Based on my experience with an EV with Tesla motors (Rav4EV), the AM radio is anywhere from "terrible quality" to "useless for anything other that monitoring electric motor speed and regen"
Newer Teslas (in my experience starting sometime in 2017 with Model X) don't even have AM radio anymore...
Funny thing is, in those 16 years of front-plate-free cars, I *have* gotten pulled over for speeding 3 times.
2 resulted in a speeding ticket, one let off with a warning.
None mentioned the lack of front plate.
They're producing single and dual motor skateboards in Normal for the Amazon vans already, so the question is "Do they have capacity in Normal to produce yet another variant of dual motor skateboard?"
Lived in California my whole life and haven't have a front plate on any car since 2006.
My Mini doesn't have a spot for the front plate from the factory.
It did come with a perfectly molded plate mount that would require drilling holes into the bumper.
I asked the dealer to let me do that at...
A widely held misconception.
Every BMW has turn signals.
It's just that there's no blinker fluid installed at the factory, and the dealers don't bother to tell their customers how to fill it on their own.
Mid-2020, Max Pack R1T preorder in the South Bay.
Got the email in the second round on Friday.
Signed up for a test drive on Nov 18th.
My wife was more excited than I'd expected to move work meetings around to be able to join me.
"Switching configs away from Launch Editions doesn't affect your delivery order"
... cannot possibly be true at the same time as ...
"All Launch Editions will deliver before anything else"
So if I read it, I probably brushed it off as poor communication with ambiguous meaning at best.
"... absolutely no downside ..."
So you knew - for absolute certain - that configuring an LE and then changing to Max Pack later wouldn't put you later in line than those folks who chose a Max Pack right away?
Maybe you were privy to some internal communication confirming that which most of us...
We know that now.
I don't believe that - during the very brief period where LE were actually available to reserve - we knew that "Reserve an LE, to get the early test drive, and then switch to Max Pack later" was a remotely reasonable strategy.
August 2020 R1T Max pack, San Jose CA. Also no invite yet.
With the (obvious) numbers of adopters in the Bay Area, I'd wager the 2.5 weeks isn't long enough for the LE holders in the area, much less the non-LE holders.
Maybe if I tell them "I would have been an LE holder if you'd made the LE...
I'm guessing this is a video of the horn in action.
Unfortunately, Instagram is a Facebook company, and therefore I will never have a login for it, and this video is protected by a login.
I'll maybe search for a mirror of it, if I can find out what to search for ?
Yesterday was One of Those Days™ where a simple 25 minute errand involved multiple instances of being cut off, brake checked, or almost-swerved-into.
I had to absolutely lay on the horn 3 times.
By the end of the 3rd I was analyzing the qualities of my little Volvo's horn.
Adequately loud...
