When I walk up to my 2013 Volvo with keyless entry to unlock the drivers door, it won't even let my kid open the door handle 4' to my right without me moving closer to it.
With key fobs (and presumably bracelets...) and NFC on a phone, it can localize which authenticating device is approaching...
Setting aside other R1T advantages such as "looks" and "size"... It's been directly demonstrated that the quad-motor design is one key to the off-road prowess.
So a quad-motor Cybertruck puts it back on my radar.
Now they just need to address "looks" and "size"
My bet? No way the quad motor...
More LE greens spotted crossing the bay into San Francisco today. Clearly a different truck (different cab *and* trailer)
Via reddit: Headed over the Bay Bridge into San Francisco! As a R1T LE in Launch Green preorder holder delayed from Nov '21 to March/April '22, this pains me ?
But if you read the words in the manual that say "This vehicle is equipped with a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) with individual tire pressure display", then you would think you'd get a display on an individual tire basis.
It's the GOM - Guess-o-meter.
An EV with 100mi range on a full battery - when driven gently - will say "I have 75mi range left" when the battery is at 75%
An EV with 100mi range on a full battery - when driven with a lead foot - will say "I have 50mi range left" when the battery is at 75%
ICE...
The first mile events:
1 - Have way more than 5 trucks
2 - Have way more colors than launch green
3 - Have gaps between their scheduling for a traveling show.
4 - Are staff and space limited, not truck limited; More trucks wouldn't help.
I'd wager the Santa Clarita first mile event has all the...
We know the fact that the many hundreds of trucks that are now privately owned by employees combined with the many dozens of trucks that have made their way through reviewers hands and our own hands at these test drive events... That the "pluggable spare battery" is not a feature implemented on...
One the reasons we were originally excited about the R1T is the Max Pack range.
The standard pack would be great for 90% of our driving, but then we'd be stuck with (2) EVs that don't quite get us the road trip range we want.
And as for considering alternatives?
Having spent time around the...
There will be no aftermarket "pluggable batteries for extra range" if the hardware on the truck doesn't support them.
Which it currently does not.
They have a patent on the concept but have absolutely not implemented it on the current R1T.
So you're suggesting that when a "20" wheel with AT tire" set is added to the gear shop for later purchase it'll be exactly $1800?
The same as the upgrade when purchasing the truck?
Nah. I'll be way more.
Buying a set of (4) 20"s a la carte may not be $1800 more than buying a set of (4) 21"s...
Yah, I'm also low-key hoping they Tesla the shit out of this... but am not expecting it.
It would be VERY NICE OF THEM to make "Max Pack capable" trucks for a small added cost, with a full unlock to come later...
But by the time Tesla gave people software locked larger batteries, they were a...
Cheapest max pack you can get - $77,500
Add the off-road upgrade - $79,500
But to get that config means ditching the Adventure Package, therefore sacrificing:
- Premium audio (everybody in the family needs)
- Fully adjustable passenger seat (wife really wants)
- Ventilated seats (wife and I...
If the entire operation - the billions of dollars spent, facilities owned, processes developed, decade of R&D, many hundreds of trucks built, etc etc - is such a fraud that only a few employees will ever get a truck...
...then the very clear language in their S1 was so clearly premeditated...
Yah, same.
Really confused about the claim it's small.
It's *WAY* bigger, more regular-shaped, and in-general more useful than my Model X frunk.
Power open/close on it is a game changer.
This will be - at launch - the only pickup on the market with a full fledged trunk for grocery shopping...
??? This is strictly not true.
I just got back from the Sonoma event this morning where I drove the bejeezus out of that truck on those same roads.
You have to have been a preorder holder from long-enough ago to get a drive invite, but countless of us got them.
I'm not an LE preorder holder...
I agree with this take, but it omits one very important angle:
With an ICE car, you have no choice but to visit the gas station every so often. So people get really good at doing that, because it's routine, and required.
WIth an EV, you technically never have to visit a charging station out in...
I mean... I... quite literally said exactly why I was able to look at EA chargers and why I was doing so.
And then:
As mentioned *literally and explicitly* in my post:
I think a LOT of long time Tesla owners who are consider their first non-Tesla are, in fact, quite interested in the EA...
