  1. Help! Mud on trim won’t come off

By chance did you go down a lime rock road? Here in FL they use it a lot for road bases prior to asphalt. And yes its a PITA to wash it off plastic.
  2. Holy huge: Amazon delivery van vs. R1S

Early Amazon EDV's were indeed software locked to ~185 mile range.
  3. Am I missing something... are people uneducated about EVs and won over by free charging?

We leased the Mercedes EQB for the $20K discount off sticker, not the free charging. I didn't even know about the free EA until after I had signed the paperwork. They do limit to 30 minutes though. After that I think there is a grace period and then it starts to bill you an idle fee...
  4. Tirerack.com rolling out Rivian Vans for mobile tire installation

Coparts has a few "slightly used" EDV500's and 700's. Non drivers, move in ready! (Although you might have a hard time evicting the critters that have taken up residence) :CWL: ? Although after looking closer there is one that has some roof damage that doesn't look too bad from the...
  5. "Firesale page"

I have a side business of making and selling old school "BoostValve" manual turbo boost controllers. I designed it myself back in the late 90's and over the years been quite successful. For awhile I tried selling them on Amazon but was constantly dealing with tradmark issues. I couldn't even...
  6. R1S Unreasonably Fragile Roof Glass

Hopefully, if not Rivian the aftermarket sees an opportunity to make a replacement panel in steel/fiberglass/carbon-fiber etc. I too as others have said am worried of getting anything too "adventurous" near the glass roof.
  7. Tampa Service Center, open yet?

As long as they are open for warranty work that's a big plus for us around the Tampa Bay area. A lot better than the 2-3 hour drive to Orlando. Hopefully once county/city/state clear them they will be able to dispatch the remote service vans for minor repairs.
  8. Tampa Service Center, open yet?

Any updates on the Tampa service center? Last fall I heard they were aiming for a November 2023 opening date. Any Tampa locals stopped by there?
  9. Fisker ending direct sales model and pivoting to dealerships for sales & service

I had a Ocean reservation since early 2021. Initial hype and Magna all seemed like it would be a winner. Held onto my reservation until a couple of months ago. I lost a lot of (if not all) confidence in both the car and the company (fisker not Magna) and decided not worth taking a chance on it.
  10. Fisker ending direct sales model and pivoting to dealerships for sales & service

Fiat dealers might be interested in selling a "high volume car". Just might bump up their annual sales from 2 to maybe 3 or 4 cars a year. 100% increase in sales looks good on paper. :CWL:
  11. Coast Mode/Regen Brakes Make Me Car Sick

I've noticed that I do have my driver's seat a bit more forward compared to other cars I've owned. I think that helps to get the right foot at an angle to modulate the throttle pedal smoothly. I'd suggest as others have to leave in high regen and try to get used to not using the brake pedal...
  12. Proof of insurance when vehicle isn’t picked up yet

I'm in FL and it took me a week back and forth with my agent and multiple calls to Travellers. This was in May and they didn't have the R1S in their system yet. I had a VIN assigned, and the truck was sitting waiting at the Orlando service center, but the VIN wasn't in the insurance database...
  13. Rivian body materials & construction cutaway (material type, welding, heat/cold straightening) @ SEMA

.....and to find out the entire driverside is conventional steel! :like::CWL::CWL:
  14. Front driver side wheel making squeaking sound (irrespective of breaking or not)

I'd lean towards the rock wedged between the disc and brake dust shield theory. Half shafts tend to make more of a clunk/clicking sound. Wheel bearings more of a low pitched whirring/growling sound at speed. Will be interesting to hear what the techs find.
  15. R1S, I just noticed mine has PPF on lower front fenders.

So I've had the truck since May and washed it several times. I feel dumb that I'm just now noticing it came with a small PPF right behind the aero vent on the front fenders. Nice touch and presumably will help protect the paint from debris that gets kicked up from the front tires. Cool. ?
  16. Normal noise when changing ride height?

Air suspension systems have a few components that all work together to adjust the ride height and keep the vehicle level. The compressor fills a reservoir that stores air at a preset pressure. Individual corner sensors tell the main computer where that corner is at heightwise. If an...
  17. Canceled my R1S order :-(

To coin an F1 term... the "porpoising" is worse in the R1S. I'm not a suspension engineer but it seems like the compression is about right but the rebound is too harsh. IOW, it absorbs the bump nicely but then springs back too rapidly. Not sure how the all terrain 20's compare ride wise to...
  18. Canceled my R1S order :-(

My In-laws could probably answer that question better than me, they spend more time in the second row than I do, ? but I didn't get any complaints during a recent 6 hour down & back drive to Miami. If it's actual seat comfort that you're wondering about, the R1S second row isn't too bad...
  19. Canceled my R1S order :-(

Since this is an entertaining thread, I'll chime in with my 2 cents worth... From my experience as an owner and driver of quite a few of the vehicles in this thread, here's my opinions: Cayenne (recent model 9YA Audi based chassis and engine). Out corners anything on the list, but with 315mm...
  20. R1S Wipers chattering after RianX

Just a FYI, On one of my previous vehicles I often used Rain-X. At some point I got a small rock chip in the front windshield, it wasn't big enough to warrant changing the glass, but was in my line of sight and couldn't un-see it. Had a glass guy come out and usually they can inject a clear...
