In my Gen1 experience - replaced dampers, halfshafts, jounce parts, and hub/knuckle did not fix anything. The vehicle only got shakier and noisier.
By the time Rivian repurchased my Gen1, it was the poorest driving vehicle I've ever experienced.
My Gen2 is well on its way to the same fate.
So the suspension noise you were trying to get resolved this whole time was the jounce squeaking?
This has been a known Gen1 issue for a long time and they have a new subassembly that improves it about 90%. That baffles me it took so long to implement a known fix for you.
Same. My Gen1 was repurchased by Rivian because of extensive issues and time in service. Only 3.5 months into my Gen2 TriMax and it is an absolute trainwreck compared to my Gen1 repurchased R1T.
I'm hit by a new bug in my Gen2 almost daily. In 19 months of Gen1 ownership I really didn't have issues. Maybe I was lucky?
So far this week:
Map stuck in dark mode, requiring infotainment reset. This fix it temporary, however.
When in Nav, map view randomly zooms out to see the full North...
If that's the case, I think you have a strong point for a replacement hub/knuckle and bolts. Maybe someone on here who has had this done could post a service ticket of all the part numbers. I know I've seen it before.
That sounds like the CV joint/wheel hub clicking. The SC should know exactly how to fix that. It's very common.
Definitely driveline, not suspension related.
My Gen2 TriMax halfshafts, front drive unit, and wheel hubs only lasted about 1000 miles before they were hot garbage. My first R1T (Gen1 Quad) lasted 8000 miles. No crazy driving, off-roading, or launching on either vehicle.
If you have driveline components that last 24k miles, that's a big...
Yup...they worked on your suspension system, but not the driveline components. Unfortunately, driveline is the biggest offender for these noises and bad ride feel. We just reduce everything to a simplified "suspension noise" issue.
Mine is way more than noise. Its a rattling you can feel, too. It feels loose and sloppy. The drive is more harsh when the noise is present. When rattling, the truck does not feel solid at all.
A few owners (even in this thread) are reporting that Rivian Service has fixed these knocking and rattling issues in the front suspension or driveline. The result is "dead silence" or "a like new truck". Yet others are being told these issues are normal and just get ignored.
What are the best...
WHoa! That #7 "gear lash found in front drive unit" really catches my eye. its not just the halfshafts, sometimes the issue is internal to the drive unit itself. you can put new axles in, but it won't fix it if the drive unit is bad. I now wonder if that was the issue on my old Gen1 repurchase.🤔
Gen2 suffers the same, in fact, my Gen2 was only "quiet" for about a month. My Gen1 lasted about a year before the issues arose.
The question for those that had the issue 100% resolved...will it come back? Rivian is still using the same crap halfshafts and such. Jounce is a different story...
