Let us know how it goes from this SC visit. I have an appt for this on May 21. My new R1T Tri only lasted about 1000 miles before this issue took center stage. My truck drives terribly now.
Most of my videos just say "Video Error". I am using a Samsung external drive that I used without issue for 19 months on my Gen1 R1T. This Gen2 is buggy.
They have a fix for the jounce assembly. They have a fix for the original dampers. They have a fix for the old creaky welded subframe.
They badly need to figure out this halfshaft issue. Its a problem with so many symptoms. I think we are all hopeful they can do this soon.
Ok, if this is not new I can say that the new manufacturer is not any better than the old. I have a new Gen2 Tri and the halfshafts are just as bad as in my old Gen1. In fact, the Gen2 went bad much faster than my Gen1.
Well that is interesting...different manufacturer for the halfshafts. Is this new, or did we already know about it?
We have documented different part numbers for the halfshafts G1/G2 and different motor configs, but I am unaware of new manufacturer.
Sorry, I'm referring to Tacoma the city. In the heat today, my R1T is driving and sounding really nice. That has not been the norm for the past month or two.
Ok Jon...it's about 80 here in Tacoma for the first time this year, and...my truck is near silent. Not only that, the ride feels softer and seems to soak up the familiar bumps in my area with ease. Other than a little steering wheel vibration and shake it feels like back in Jan/Feb when it was...
That sounds terrible. To me, that sound is more of the dampers hitting their stops. I think it's different than the halfshaft rattle. I could be wrong.
With all that clatter and clunks of the Rivian suspension and drive line, how on earth could you possibly discern the flopping around of a jack-point cover under the vehicle?
Does your vehicle not normally sound and feel like a wheel is about to fall off?
Thanks for checking back in. That has to be frustrating to have to practically work against the SC to get it fixed.
I have 2 sets of OEM tires/wheels (22" Sport and 20" ATs). Both sets have been road force balanced and I still have the shake. Its always there, but much worse over bad...
It has to be lubricant viscosity then. How can it not be easily solved if that it is the case? Have a lube that maintains its stability at higher temps.
Jon- I know you have your working theory on the halfshaft noise and how warmer temps seem to bring out the noise more, and it lessens substantially in colder temps. In WA we are in back-and-forth season for weather. Some days, like the last few, we are up in the mid 70s. It's not uncommon for...
