I agree. My iKamper creates only a small drop in efficiency. I expect iKamper knows the best way to mount and they do recommend thin end to the front ... although they say you can mount it the other way if you wish. I did see a video a year or so ago where the person tried the iKamper both...
My R1T is Gen 2, 9 months old, and 9,000 miles.
Phone and card - no issues, but there is a few second delay at times as truck wakes up
12v - no issues
Car suddenly stopping - has never happened
Tonneau cover - Newest version, no issues
Door Molding quality - No issues
Warnings going off - None...
Two big factors from day to day estimate, temperature and wind. Consider a mild 10 mph tail wind verses head wind. For the R1 that's like driving 50 mph verses 70 mph wind resistance. I see big differences based upon these two factors.
There are hundreds if not thousands of regulations for design and manufacture automobiles. Most have to do with safety in some form. Although I do not know the specific amount, there is a legal limit for the amount of force a powered seat can apply. Similar with power windows, frunks, and...
With the glass roof my grandkids (ages 3 and 6) in the back seat, keep me updated on the status of the moon, clouds and aircraft. Of course, very important when driving.
I would say yes 9 is normal ... Considering a startup auto manufacturer and their first model, one should expect a lot of things which need to be adjusted/corrected. Look at what Tesla went through with its first mass-produced model. Look at what Lucid is going through. Go back and look at...
R1T and Lyric fill totally different needs. So, figure out your needs. A couple friends love their Lyric. No significant issues. We looked at Lyric. It's a nice car. and would be a good midsize SUV if I needed one. No Frunk and not much room for stuff behind second row seats. My R1T gen 2...
There appears to be a bit of confusion on this topic, the components involved and each role. Bluetooth and UWB are communication methods, each of which require a different special chip (which is why Gen 1 does not have UWB). The digital key is what gets communicated to lock/unlock the R1. It...
Some short asnwers..
The digital key is a file (key) which you can send to another person so they can also have access to the R1. It follows a standard. The prior method was also a digital key but it was a Rivian proprietary process with the key stored by the Rivian phone app, requiring it to...
adaptive driving and connectivity are two different features. Connectivity does require a subscription after a few months. Adaptive driving does not, at this time.
Yep, I am aware of the text in the manual. This summer I posted the question on this forum as to what other Gen 2, DM, nonperformance, large battery observed. No one responded. It does appear the manual is not complete on this topic. Although not stated in the manual, there are a number of...
I've seen that written too and also thought this is how it worked ... until I purchased the R1T. I discovered it's not how it actually works ... at least not in my truck. The screen which shows the motors and wheels with power delivered and regen when in motion will always have both motors and...
Gen 2 R1T dual motor all purpose mode is all wheel drive (both motors). With OEM tires my front tires do wear slightly faster ... rotating evens it out. I am on track to get around 25k - 30k miles.
My experience in Arizona (Phoenix area) simple things like recall (lights issue) and tire rotation appointments were about 1 week out. My guess is the queue is regional ... ratio of vehicles to service centers.
It's a matter of personal preference and what you are accustomed to. We drove a Model Y for 5 years before getting the Rivian. OPD was great in the highest setting on Model Y ... rarely used the break. Model Y regen high setting is about the same as Rivian mid setting. For a while I used the...
In Rivian, Amazon music connects via Alexa which only buffers a second or two. So, you need a good constant cell signal or you get a lot of gaps. Spotify and others download an entire song at a time, so intermittent cell gaps have no effect. We live in the mountains where cell signals get...
Others have already said this in pieces ... Just putting it all together. This summer something happened on an update which added a lot of KWH to stored trip data making calculations way off. In my case about 8,000 kwh used were added overnight. It was a onetime event. The trip meters must...
Sounds similar to our gen 2 when the l louvers by the radiator open and close. To us it sounds a lot the raptors in Jurassic Park. It happens when it senses us getting close (waking up) or after you move away (going back to sleep). If the Jurassic Park movies taught us anything, it's don't...
You should be fine. None of the slide manufacturers indicate a difference between generations for the slide. They would have by now. I have the Thunderbold slide and kitchen, which I believe was designed for Gen 1, but fits perfectly within Gen 2 as well.
