  1. Found good bike mount option for Rivian R1T using Yakima Frontloader

let us know if you take your bike on a longer road trip. I am curious to see what the range impact is when you carry the bike like that since you are messing with the truck's aerodynamics. I a planning to use a trailer hitch for my bikes just to minimize the range impact. thank you in advance.
  2. Tesla to Rivian: Any Regrets?

I think it would be a concern if you were going from a newer Model S or newer Model X to a Rivian than a Model 3 or Model Y. Outside of the obvious size difference, volume built cars like the Model 3 or the Model Y do not have the ride quality that the Rivian has, so the Rivian will not...
  3. Charging before Wall Charger Delivered

There are many options on Amazon to help solve your charging needs once you identify what type of NEMA plug you currently have installed in your house/garage. I would assume the Rivian charger comes with a NEMA 14-50 plug, so if you find an extension cord that will allow you to plug in the NEMA...
  4. Spotted camouflaged R1S on I-70 eastbound on Vail Pass in Colorado today

So, what you are saying is that Tesla's should remain camouflaged to cover up mismatched panels!!! I kid! I kid!
  5. Spotted camouflaged R1S on I-70 eastbound on Vail Pass in Colorado today

Yup, that is what I saw. I had never seen one in person and it was kind of cool seeing one on I-70 on Vail Pass.
  6. Spotted camouflaged R1S on I-70 eastbound on Vail Pass in Colorado today

Unfortunately, I was doing 90mph down the west side of Vail Pass in my Taycan. The R1S was coming uphill on the other side. I had enough time to get a good look at it, but not enough time to break out the phone for a picture. The Rivian blue is a pretty unique color, so it is easy to spot...
  7. Spotted camouflaged R1S on I-70 eastbound on Vail Pass in Colorado today

I was driving to Carbondale, CO today and spotted a camouflaged R1S on I-70 that was eastbound on Vail Pass today around Noon. It was decked out in the Rivian blue with the small diagonal black strips across part of it. You have to figure it was headed to the Denver service center to be...
  8. Rivian Drive From Bishop to Ontario, CA on One Charge

Thanks for sharing details. What were the temps during your drive, and what was the elevation change? Will be interesting to see if someone does the same drive in the summer and no climate on. Might add 15 or 20 miles of range.
  9. Extra "can of gas"... for EVs

The extra weight of lugging around something like that defeats the purpose as well. An "extra can of gas" in an EV means slowing down by 10mph or 15mph, or rolling in smaller tires. There is no magic bullet for additional emergency range, yet.
  10. Another update from Denver Rivian Center

'Cause that doesn't sound creepy AF. Maybe you need to proof read your comment.
  11. Another update from Denver Rivian Center

Weekly stop at the Rivian Service Center?
  12. Out of Spec: R1T Road Trip Part 2 of 3

You seem to think that Rivian is helpless yet the State of Washington needs to step up and fund 50kw chargers in remote areas. What I am saying is that the State of Washington should not be as far behind as it is when it comes to allocating the VW "dieselgate settlement" funds. Many other...
  13. Out of Spec: R1T Road Trip Part 2 of 3

Who knows? And who knows when? In this environment, I would not take anything for granted. I find it funny that people on this board expect things to be done on time in the current global environment. Honestly, I would doubt that we see Rivian high speed chargers in any volume within...
  14. Out of Spec review on 500A charging

RAN Chargers??? You will be waiting for 5 years at the minimum for them to appear in volume density. Just look at the expansion history of Tesla and Electrify America and you will see that it is not easy rolling out a charging network. The EA charging network between California and UT is...
  15. Out of Spec review on 500A charging

No worries. You will drive your truck however you feel comfortable. If you have the patience to wait for a max pack R1T you are a better person than I am. All I know is that the large pack R1T is being built and provided to customers currently. The struggle for Rivian to do that in this...
  16. Out of Spec review on 500A charging

In the current environment it is not that simple since there are not the same number of high speed chargers as there are gas stations. In more remote areas that have few high speed charging locations - like Texas for instance - chargers are 150 miles apart or so. Even with a max pack trying...
  17. Out of Spec: R1T Road Trip Part 2 of 3

I have charged multiple times at that Moab 50kW charger, and have luckily never found it non-functional. Before the Green River Electrify America location was open, that Moab location was an integral part of getting across eastern Utah on I-70. Thankfully, there are many options now to get...
  18. Out of Spec: R1T Road Trip Part 2 of 3

Yeah, that north east side of Washington outside of Spokane is pretty much a fast charging desert for CCS. Plenty of options for destination charging and camp ground charging, so just make sure you are patient and have the right charging connection handy. Tesla Tap and a 14-50 connector are...
  19. Out of Spec: R1T Road Trip Part 2 of 3

I am going to slightly, and respectfully, disagree with you a little. Kyle took a very deliberate route to put the truck in unique circumstances that most people will not in order to understand the efficiency and range of the R1T. For instance, he could have driven from Denver to PHX in 14 or...
