We are on the same page, and I think we will eventually get a charging curve out of Rivian, or learn more about charging speeds for both vehicles as time goes on.
It feels like it may be too early for Rivian to feel comfortable to release this type of data since they may still be working on...
It takes two to tango. People in this thread are forgetting the inconsistent nature of charging speeds, especially with Electrify America. One location may be pushing consistent and fast speeds, while another be very, very slow. You just never know.
For instance, this past summer tried to...
Not trying to be flip, but the key to long distance driving in an EV is patience. There are lots of things out of your control, so you just have roll with it and be prepared for the unexpected.
Electrify America can be inconsistent, so you may charge at 200kW at one charging location, but...
I stopped by the Denver location yesterday and spoke to some of the staff - super nice people and let me charge my Taycan while I was hanging out. The vehicles at the facility actually belong to employees.
They have a completely different charging capacity and speed, so they use different components.
Also, can we let this thread die? An article by a Tesla shrill on Teslarati.com about a so called "whistleblower" at Porsche does not warrant 4 pages of responses. The "whisleblower" could have...
Exactly. The author is a hack, and his previous posting history shows him as a Tesla shrill. If there were 18,000 Taycan's out there that required significant service, or catching fire, there would be real press coverage. Not some a$$hat "reporting" it on f*cking Teslarati.com.
Serious journalism from a super credible site named Teslarati. That should tell you all need to know right there. An entire "article" based on one "whistleblower?" What happened to the days when a credible journalist had multiple sources???? While the Taycan has had teething...
So, what does this have to do with Rivian????
I don't think an interview with the CEO of General Motors where they refuse to acknowledge the contribution of Tesla to the EV industry warrants us getting away from people complaining about potential Rivian range while towing, or getting away from...
That is a generous offer and one I would definitely take you up on if/when I get out that way. I'd just hate to see the look on the wife's face after I tell her we need to refi the house so I can buy a Porsche!
Trust me, one drive in a Taycan and she will be on board with that idea!!
You're probably right. Alas, I doubt I'll ever get that opportunity. Which is probably a good thing. Ignorance is bliss. :p
@Arthur Itiz: If you every make it out to Denver we will take that drive, weather allowing. Over the past 10 years, I have done that drive in a BMW X5, a...
Seriously, what do these car manufacturers offer over the other manufacturers that justify double the prices?
I have a '21 Taycan 4s, but also have a R1T on order. Two different cars for two different types of driving experiences.
Try driving up and down Independence Pass in Colorado in...
This has to be the worst thread ever, and that is saying something for this forum.
The answer is just buy what you want, if you can afford it. Just don't hog up a charger by charging to 80% if you only need to go 150 miles to the next charger. I am looking at you @ajdelange . You don't...
Everything you have shared makes sense in a "perfect world" scenario. When you factor in weather, broken chargers, or slow chargers, that equation changes and that is what people need to understand.
It does not matter to Electrify America what size of battery you have. If they keep up with...
Agreed, but we should give @Jehorton a chance to explain his opinion on why he thinks what he thinks. He obviously has certain strong beliefs that seem in line with the non-typical EV buying demographic.
Theoretically, you are correct. But, that is IF the high speed charger is working as designed. With Electrify America that may be 50% of the time.
There are pluses and minus' to the max battery pack. One huge negative right now is that Electrify America is not providing a consistent...
Everyone will have their unique perspective on why they think they need the max battery pack, but give me charging speed over max battery pack anyway of the week. I will not be hauling thing other than bikes, will not be towing anything, and will not be going deep into the back country 200...
Is it me, or is it weird to have so many current Tesla owners who are experts in the Electrify America charging network???? Do they have some much free time on their hands that they are surveying random locations to verify reliability, and the exact reasons why people may, or may not be...
Thank you for your comments on what you took from listening to the conversation.
My last experience with a Tesla in 2019 was when my new, second Model S had a massive failure in a semi-remote road in Colorado. The vehicle caused a 4 mile traffic jam because there was no shoulder to move...
Depending on how far you go, the speed in which you drive, the climate conditions, the speed in which the car will charge, and the speed pushed by the actual charger itself, you will want to assume that you will spend 20 to 40 minutes charging at each stop. I am not sure what road trips you...
While we're on it. Anyone knows does Rivian support plug&charge? That's a feature I'd really like. @Denver_Paulie your Taycan has this capability for some time now right? Does it work nicely?
@slawwach . I do have plug and charge on my Taycan. I did not have the capability on my '19 Audi...
