  1. Lucid Factory Complete - shares assembly line photos

You're correct that we don't really know either the number of vans or trucks that will be produced in 2021. We do know there will be two separate transfer/production lines - one for vans and one for R1T/R1Ss. My best guess is about 10,000 trucks, LE vehicles, and at least 5,000 vans will be...
  2. Lucid Factory Complete - shares assembly line photos

We don't really know the production levels Rivian is shooting for, but 10,000 R1T/R1Ss in 2021 would seem about right. That's the likely number of LE pre-orders. But don't forget Amazon is slated to get 10,000 vans in 2021. There will be two separate production lines, one for vans and another...
  3. Rivian Announces New Timelines - R1T Delivery Begins June 2021 and R1S in August 2021. Pilot Production Starts

Manual carts on preproduction and low volume assembly lines are standard practices, so the Tesla fanboy better read up on industry best practices. There's no sense in investing in speedy transfer lines if volumes don't justify it, and they don't, at least not yet. Rivian will likely stay in...
  4. Bloomberg Technology interview with RJ

The white R1T in #8 that RJ was driving with family for a Christmas tree pick-up looks seriously good. We've seen plenty of clean, white R1Ss in pics and real life events, but not so many clean white R1T images. The black roof, pillar and trim pieces really go well with a white body, and all...
  5. Rear Seat - cargo space/flat floor in the future?

The 5 seat and 7 seat versions of the R1S represent a significant tradeoff: a third row of vegan upholstered and stitched seating with seat belts and perhaps side air bags probably represents about $2K +/- of costs. If you can get two more battery modules and a completely flat floor for giving...
  6. Rear Seat - cargo space/flat floor in the future?

But @Babbuino, the R1S doesn't have a flat floor either. I've often wondered about this since at the Mill Valley/SF event, a year ago, I was told repeatedly the R1S would have a perfect flat floor. I'm guessing other projects bumped a redesign of the R1S and R1T floors, and perhaps there are...
  7. Bidirectional Power / Quasar Wallbox

I asked Rivian customer support about this and was told, "stay tuned. We'll have more to say in the future." Bi-directional power is definitely a feature worth having, especially in PG&E serviced No Cal.
  8. Launch Green - Come on Rivian, Pictures Please!

I live in thickly forested hills near the California coast. Douglas fir, Redwood, Madrone, and all manner of oaks. Since Launch Green has made its appearance, I started paying more attention to the riot of greens surrounding me, in sunlight, shade, and various overlapping and interwoven...
  9. California Tax Credit Increase from July 2020-December 2030

I talked with Brian Gase at Mill Valley/SF about the limitation on California tax rebates on EVs costing more than $60K, and he said Rivian was aware of this and was working on a way to accommodate the limitation. However, the new legislation "under submission" that Lmirafuente mentions would...
  10. What We Know - Collecting Information Directly From Rivian

Here's what I learned today about a folding rear floor or lack thereof by email from Brian at R-CS: "R1S third row seats fold nearly flat, to put things in perspective, it is roughly 90% flat. " Bolded letters were added by me. So, not flat, not even 97% flat, as someone else in the forum has...
  11. Rivian Launches New Website: Updated Prices, Launch Edition, Timing, Colors and More!

The features drawing complaints & disappointments, like does the floor fold flat on the R1S, does the R1T come with a full size spare, or what do the roof racks look like, are not features that were affected with Long Way Up, Rebelle Rally or other testing and validation. A better set of color...
  12. Rivian Launches New Website: Updated Prices, Launch Edition, Timing, Colors and More!

Yes, maybe Rivian has changed R1S seat folding for production AND NOT TOLD US ABOUT IT! I'm not impressed with how many trim and design features are presented. Color renderings are not detailed enough to know what colors look like; color renderings are inside pics only; no ability to mix and...
  13. Forest Edge People

After my 6-7th re-configuration, I'm going with Glacier White and Forest Edge R1S on 20" wheels. But don't hold me to this tomorrow.
  14. Rivian Configurator is Up For Reservation Holders! Share Your Build / Configuration Inside

Ron, that sounds about right. I'm a few places behind you, but I pre-ordered on 11/30/18 so my guess is you may be a day or two later than the 27th. Maybe the 28-29th.
  15. Rivian Plant Has Reopened. Amazon Van Still On Time.

Pretty nifty. I could live in that thing. I'll take one of those, please.
  16. Rivian Configurator is Up For Reservation Holders! Share Your Build / Configuration Inside

Yep, it still works (hovering over the truck or SUV icon under home icon). I'm a Nov. 30, 2018, early pre-order holder. According to skyote and others' good work, I was #14XX on our internal scheme and, now, I'm #24XX on Rivian's pre-order system. Minus 1000 for starting at 1000, and our...
  17. Rivian Launches New Website: Updated Prices, Launch Edition, Timing, Colors and More!

I second everything Bubbuino on #368 says. We're heard two different stories on the R1S seats folding flat: nearly flat and flat, as in flat-flat. If it's not flat-flat, I may have to switch to the R1T, especially for the R1T 20" wheels. And, yes, a full size spare, please.
  18. Configurator Strategy?

I don't think Rivian is trying to jerk us around. For whatever reasons, and there could be many, the largest battery pack promised, the 180 kWh, is not available in 2021. So, two courses of action. Configure for the largest battery pack and get in the 2022 line or configure for the 135 kWh...
  19. Configurator Strategy?

John, we'll know more tomorrow, but the LE is not restricted to Launch Green. Several folks have reported conversations with Rivian service reps where they were told the LE can be had in any color. However, except for white, silver and launch green, there are upcharges for the other colors.
  20. $7,500 Difference in Trims

It sounds like the LE upgrade is worth at least $7500 and perhaps the Adventure level too, but it depends, as always, on the quality of the upgrades. Bigger tires, better rims, better quality upholstery, and the underbody protection. And what's the Rivian Launch Edition tag worth?
