Man if the grammar police ever find this thread, you guys are toast! Folks throwing "break" around like it means the same as "brake".
I'll see myself out. :lipssealed:
This. I prefer to run my fridge on 12V DC, but I don't like the idea of putting it in the frunk - if it would even fit. Access and ventilation in the bed would be better. I'm a little curious why they left a DC plug out of the bed space tbh.
These delays aren't unique to Rivian, or EVs, or the auto industry. That's not to say that multi-year delivery timetables are ideal, for anyone really, but this situation isn't new either. I can see why the shotgun approach would appeal to some, but I'm more of a want-what-I-want kinda guy.
One thing I haven't seen mentioned in these price comparisons is that we're effectively buying the R1T at wholesale pricing. In the typical manufacturer to dealer model, the manufacturer makes money when they sell the unit to a dealer, not when the unit is retailed to a consumer. In order to...
Messages sent to both chairmen - I would hope by 2023, when I’m guessing my order will arrive, this will be old news. In the meantime hopefully it helps the earlier deliveries.
Good point - early adopters are traditionally going to buy the loaded machines too. The same thing happens in the powersports industry. The first to be built and sold are the highest spec models with the highest profit margin.
That's only fair - and some sort of compensation for an early adopter being pushed to the back of the line would be nice. I think it gets complicated with manufacturing and batch production. I don't know what their facility is like, but I could see potential inefficiencies with manufacturing...
To me, the OTA updates, whether subscription service or not, are part of the attraction. Some of the additional functionality/features/updates that come through would be impossible or require hardware upgrades in a traditional vehicle. I'm extrapolating from Tesla owner experience, but assume...
Large pack for me - with my typical travel, I couldn't justify the $10k delta for an extra 100 miles of range. I'm expecting further delays, which are ok (I'm patient), but wouldn't mind being surprised either!
Just ordered my Explore build on 12/31 - Happy New Year to me! I haven't heard anything, but suspect I'd be in the late 2023 - early 2024 crowd based on what I'm seeing here. Fortunately, that leaves more than ample time for education and prep, since this would be my first EV.
I would expect the R1T to handle this without a sweat, given it's weight and 4 corner power. 9" of fresh snow at 10k feet isn't nothing, but it sure looked it in the video.
