To be clear... no.
The rear suspension compresses on hard acceleration and it feels like the front lifts (steering is very squirrely). I've done 4 runs at OSW (11.8s on the 1/4 mile consistently) and my R1S was on the Daytona track during an open public hour on a track day there. I could not...
Correct. Neither Rivian gens are true luxury level.
As you say it could be manufacturing variations... My gen1 AC compressor was loud at start then quiet down significant. Still, the gen2 version I test drove was silent from the interior and it was pretty hot that day.
My G1 had plenty of...
If you are happy with Tesla ride quality and NVH then Gen 1 is perfectly acceptable.
I've owned my share of Ys and 3s (in 2021-2022) and found the ride quality fitting for a $30K budget car.... which surprise-surprise they are priced around that now. Even the Sonata I rented to drive home after...
Yes. Mid-2023 build. Suspension update arrived a month after delivery.
The biggest three issues with my gen 1 - wind/road noise, stiff + uncontrolled suspension, slooooow 400V charging (once you experience 800V charging it's hard to go back... just like driving an EV and going back to an ICE...
I test drove a Gen2 today and vastly preferred it to my Gen1 and that’s even the “meh” base audio which is equivalent to low-end premium audio by Toyota and Hyundai.
* Less body roll
* Zero diving on braking hard.
* Zero front wheels lifting off the ground on hard acceleration
* Very little...
I barely used my R1S on board compressor and used a portable one instead (connected to a Jackery). The Costco portable one (listed above) is also handy. The Camp Speaker and compressor were gimmicks to me. A few more 110V outlets and USB-c ports would have been more useful.
This. Loud bang or pop is what other EV’s pryo fuses sound like.
Fixable but what cause the fuse to blow is what needs to be fixed. Bad contactors or HV junction box (whatever Rivian uses).
I don't think so.. Rivian still needs to move to 800V and battery size + efficiency are still just okay IMO. Wasn't a fan of the R1S ride quality, wind + road noise, stiff seats and Gen2 only marginally improves this (folks aren't saying this is BMW iX ride quality and quietness).
This is more...
So the Gen 2 Large battery pack is smaller than the Gen 1 Large pack by 20 kWh?
I'm tempted by a Gen 1 Large R1S that is my exact config and wonder if I should hold off.
I gave up my 23 late-VIN R1S demo late last week. I was supposed to drive to Atlanta from Orlando on Saturday but decided to hold off until the 800V refresh.
I tried to transfer the order to a friend in Tampa but Guides had no such authority and I was told to speak to sales folks but I had no...
People freak out and line up before the hurricane. Every gas station is like Costco and often run out a day before the hurricane hits. Grocery stores are mad houses also.
There are dozens of gas stations around me. I guarantee the next hurricane they will be out of gas and not refilled for 2-3...
No there was power around me but gas stations ran out of gas before the hurricane hit and gas is transported by those tankers and roads are often a mess with branches/trees and partially flooded so they don't get refilled for a few days.
Except the second row in the 30 only fits children. I sat in both back in March at a Volvo dealer right before Electrify Expo and not sure why you couldn’t. The 3rd row on the EX90 is about as cramped as the second row of the EX30. Useless.
I'm in Central FL and the last few hurricanes have knocked out gas stations more than power.
I keep one gas car and one electric car because there have been years where I was without power for 7 days and years where no gas stations were open for 3 days around me (5+ miles radius) since gas is...
Didn't they layoff all the west coast guides?
How did you sign all the e-contracts, fill in the forms, wire payment, send insurance without a guide?
Or did you just put a $1K order in and waiting for a guide for the above?
It’s a slow process. You reserve the demo then put in a $1K order which then gets matched to your demo a week later. In my case 3-4 weeks later then you confirm the specs and get a demo discount of $7-9K off the MSRP.
