The door unlocked when I got my iphone14Pro within a centimeter/ half-inch of the handle and kept on that area for about a second or two. So a “touch” was not required. Bluetooth needed to be turned on regardless.
With Bluetooth off, the Gen2 door handle does not auto-open even if the iphone14Pro is touching it.
turned Bluetooth back on, touched the handle and it unlocked.
Hhmm - so some form of NFC+BLE or if only BLE, there has to be a very strong Bluetooth RSSI detection required for it sense that...
A feature in Rivian could be (like the Coach feature in Garmin watches for training):
* if temp in a low range and tires detect slippage and cameras/sensors also detect snow/rain etc.
* the driver screen overlays a "coach" mode how to drive - safe speed range, regen setting change suggestion...
Really sorry to hear that! Hope you get back on the road with you R1S soon.
100% agree the snow mode isn't doing enough.
In my limited ownership and all in winter and in Tahoe snows (heavy snow & steep roads), I had to quickly learn to - turn on snow mode, reduce regen to lowest setting that...
Gen2 R1T DM Max Pack here:
* Parked in garage (50s-60s temp), gear guard off, not plugged in.
* 280 miles range dropped to 266miles range in 6-days.
* Should have taken a % SOC version!
* It included one s/w upgrade activated remotely, during that time (while not plugged in).
Thanks for sharing! My new Gen2 DC charging during heavy snow storm in Tahoe - and on more than one occasions, I saw in next charging stop that the DC charge port cover/flap was down - either I wasn't pushing that flap in hard enough or simply forgetting to do so - coming from Tesla - didn't...
this is a real scenario though, I agree. One option I see is that when sitting, the women will need to take the phone out of the back pocket anyways, so what they might have to do is pull the phone out BEFORE opening the door than after. But yea agree, changing behavior to simply open a door -...
I bought my first Rivian in December, and really was considering waiting for NACS native port, and then I read up in the forums to get educated, watched videos of how the adapter is working for a Rivian to plug into a Supercharger etc - and then decided to buy and not wait.
Not many buyers are...
I have watched all three series - incredible story of those two - their love for bikes and adventures. I had deep respect for Rivian from that time when they built the two prototypes for use for their 3rd adventure series. Just fantastic. Thank you OP for posting with all those lovely details...
I am curious as well. tire wear as I was reading various threads are affected by: 1. acceleration, braking (regen), height. #1 is now better in Gen2 due to most all accelerations use both front and rear motors. #2 - regen is mostly front for me (dual motor) - not sure regen uses the rear motors...
Gen2 DM Max here (so no conserve mode...):
All Purpose observation:
- both motors operating at slow speeds (from start to ~15mph )
- both motors operating during spirited drives, faster climbs etc.
- front motors only, operating at all other times.
- ride height is STD upto 60-65mph then goes to...
Interesting - fact that your car told you interior is at 85deg, the inside thermostat is working! Then it sure is a s/w glitch that can and should be fixed by (1) hard reset (hopefully) and if not, then as a SW OTA in a coming update. You don’t have to wait for that long though!!
I have had my...
Gen2 R1T here, have had the last issue (front sensors failed to work after waking up from sleep - this happened one time and stayed off until I did a hard reset, and occasional errors on adaptive lights needed to be checked...both these problems went away with the Latest OTA which had them...
Do we have any range tests done with and without the boards at city speeds and highway speeds? Casual search results say "no noticeable impact". Would be good if someone has data to share.
Feel really happy to have purchased that exact same truck in the pic - Blue Gen2 and now with the same range wheels (started with 22 dark and switched - will share range improvements if any soon).
Shoutout goes to all the Gen1 owners for their love and feedback to help Rivian to release Gen2 so...
For my part, I just texted my service team to cancel 3 out of 4 requests that were minor. So I could do my part in giving someone with more urgent needs access to service faster.
New Gen2 pickup Dec 20th.
* truck pulled to the right.
* passenger rear door vibrates when opening.
* front...
I do see the risks to getting that federal loan...likely never materializing...but then there is VW.
VW should get serious with Rivian and chalk out/rework an existing VW Plant in US to build R2 & R3...and...while we are at it,, utilize VW dealerships nationwide to service Rivians. Rivian...
That's good! Couple of thoughts while you are troubleshooting:
1. When using NACS adapter, did you use (A) Tesla app to select the charger# and paid through Tesla app, or just plugged in the NACS and let (B) Rivian do the payment with Tesla? If there is issue with payment/clearing with RAN, it...
Just curious if you have updated the firmware on your R1T. If previous owner didn't and it's sitting on some old firmware that may have a bug with authentication/authorization...
