The wheels & tires have exactly 1K miles now (less than a month old as of Jan 8 2025) on my 2025 Gen2 R1T. They will likely get another 2K Miles by the time the Atomic 20in AWD wheels+Tires I am ordering will arrive (end of February, 2025 estimate). In my limited drive, I am getting about...
good example. Perhaps not as clear - the $146K extra, that would raise your overall tax bracket when you liquidate the Mutual Funds, and so tax on $146K + additional tax due to tax bracket increase needs to be accounted for, for a true apple to apple. May be 25% (assuming long-term 20% +...
Thanks for reviewing. Good point. I have now added the sales tax.
I believe (I am going through the process now) that the $ to the bank/JPMC here is for the remaining residual value, and the sales tax is paid separately (I think direct to DMV?) - as you have predicted. I will update this after...
I have created a lease decoder (read-only so one needs to download and make their own inputs in the blue cells) and be able to decode a lease. If this survives the review of this group, I might post this as a main topic.
cheers

I am a new recent first time Rivian owner (Gen2
My friends and colleagues (here in Bay Area who are all too familiar with EVs, own them etc.) all love the Rivian brand, but they also say under the same breath that it will not survive!”
And, all complimented me for not going for CT ?.
When...
too early to tell... the 600+ mile trip to Tahoe and back (~8000ft elevation), 3-days, parked outside with no plug in at night and temp dropping down to 25 night time, using snow mode throughout the 3-days in Tahoe area with std regen, and lots of stop & go during ski days - 2.2Miles/kWh (22 in...
we skied there yesterday too - haha. Like an excited new owner - I was waving at other rivians - lol.
with the traffic jam on the way back - I was ready to “try offroad” ?
Ski trip within 3 days of delivery - after all, its an adventure vehicle - no point babying it in the garage...that said, it came with full front protection film from factory, and soon I will be Twrapping (thank you @twraps for all the help with email and fast shipping) some other parts of the...
Gen2 R1T Max Pack 1st experience - this one was with a Tesla Supercharger in Auburn (v3, 250Kw): at 75% battery (315 rated miles) @ 100kw. My Model Y at 75% battery (236 rated miles), would be charging at 70-80kw by then.
Session details:
* 36 minutes
* 72 kWh total consumed
* 198 miles added...
Interesting. On Gen2, there is an option to buy with 20in rims and 275/60/20 AS tires - Wranglers I think - and the official range is 380miles, 10 miles better than 20 AT and 40 miles lower than the 22 with AS.
So with Gen1 R1T with Max Pack, the penalty from 21 -> 22in wheel is 30miles. 410miles with 21in, and 380 miles with 22.
With Gen2 R1T Max Pack with 22in is 420 miles. I wonder if Rivian kept the 21in wheel as an option, could we see a range approaching 450miles on Max Pack? Couldn't that be...
@Jivian - you can see in this example, the "rent" (f) is $20K for a $25K in depreciation (e). Bank is definitely not charging rent only on the depreciation amount at the APR equivalent...
vs traditional loan (APR interest calculation e.g. for a 6yr loan), the lease "rent" in 36 months - the...
Thanks. So rent * 36 months = $21K in "rent" alone - not including the monthly depreciation charge. So for a truck that depreciates $39K in 3yrs, the "rent" is $21K (+ one has to pay $38K/36 =$1K/month a total of $1600/month). Isn't that close to absurd (58% of the depreciation amount in 3yrs in...
Super. On #2, the "rent charge" - would the outcome of the rent in the calculation you have described in #2 (and also what I have seen else) be close to (depreciation * APR * # of yrs) divided by total # of yrs? I wonder why bank wants to look at average (purchase price+residual)/2 vs just not...
@tjrivian , great inputs and thoughts.
dumb Q (will also use the leasehacker calculator) - the (monthly) rent is on the depreciation, correct? In the above example, if residual is 57%, then rent is calculated on the 43% of the total price (list + destination). Correct?
For CA, the “vehicle...
Thank you @Jivian! That answers all my Qs - and I think #4 is surely a good opportunity...looks like I am behind you in just a few weeks - so will closely follow how you are able to complete the early buyout a month or two in, and I will follow suite. Cheers - PN
