Also, those Buttonwillow Tesla chargers are Tesla only... so the NACS adapter wouldn't have helped. And again, at best the Bolt peaks at around 55kW, so the ChargePoint 62.5kW CPE250s are more than enough for that vehicle.
The other commenter was talking about preconditioning before fast charging. That’s not relevant here for you. But if you set a climate schedule for your departure while plugged in, the car should heat the battery up to a good temperature too.
Climate Schedule is what I’m talking about. Awhile ago I read about that not being available on Gen2 yet, do you see the option in your climate menu?
One thing that does have an outsized impact on efficiency of road trips is to pre-condition the vehicle while plugged in, not only does this heat the cabin and waste less energy before the trip, but also heats the battery up so it isn't cold when you start driving.
What were your cabin climate settings on the drive home? Was the vehicle plugged in to the wall overnight? Was it parked indoors or outside? How fast were you driving on the way home?
I think the best set up for V2H today is using installing a generator plug in for a critical loads panel, then buying a small battery pack from Goal Zero or others that plugs into that, but gives you a higher max wattage (maybe 3kW or so peak), and then plug that into your Rivian's outlet. For...
I'm assuming you're the same person who posted this on reddit 4 months ago.
The story remains the same. EVs are not more prone to flats or attracting nails "because of magnets".
Daily mileage will be roughly the same between the two assuming you charge to 100% on LFP Standard Pack and 70-80% on the NMC Large Pack. However, where you get the benefit is your first leg of roadtrips where you'll get an extra ~50 miles at highway speed. For my Large Pack, I can do about 250...
I think the assumptions on gas price and mpg are a little off here.
Average gas prices last week according to AAA:
Texas - $3.027
New Mexico - $3.229
Colorado - $3.408
Average Price - $3.221
Also, for MPG, I think the 20 mpg comparison is not super fair, mostly because the Honda Ridgeline is...
Tesla Superchargers require a "cool down" when there's any error on the station. If you encounter something, it's best to unplug and then wait 30s. I've had errors persist if I unplug and replug too quickly.
And which motor setup do you have? I'm seeing much lower efficiency numbers on my Quad R1S, but I do have the Black Rhino 20" wheels which have a smaller positive offset than the OEM 20" wheels, resulting in wider fitment and probably some significant efficiency losses...
