Whatever you do make sure you test drive it in the morning.
When I bought a Range Rover Sport I test drove it at night, and I "fit" just fine.
But, in the morning my hair was rubbing against the roof line.
OOPS!
I didn't take into account that I'd shrink a bit during the day.
I have a love/hate relationship with conserve mode.
I love having it there in case I need to get a bit more margin. Where I can simply go into conserve mode on the freeway to get the difference I need and then get out of conserve mode when I'm nearing my destination and I have what I need.
I...
I think it helps to define what I expect from a luxury vehicle.
The fit and finish are solid - My Rivian R1T passes this test.
The mechanical operation of the doors sound solid - Definitely a pass for the Rivian R1T
The mechanical operation of accessories sound good - Absolute failure because...
People are so skeptical and questioning of everything now days that I question whether I'd ever post anything on the internet like the OP did.
I can understand the desire of sharing a disaster as I think it helps so one doesn't feel alone in what they're going through, but to have so many...
I love how you made a blanket statement arguing that an EV isn't a good financial decision while simultaneously knowing that home charging was significantly cheaper than gas.
So why didn't you say it depended on the total cost of ownership that was dependent on the buyers unique situation?
I...
450 mile comparison with home charging at either side
Rivian R1T -> Going to assume a 2 miles / kWh efficiency and a cost of 10 cents per kW. This works out to be $22.50
Camper Van -> Roughly 16mpg with an average cost of $4.00 per gallon is about $112.50
The Rivian saves me about $90, but if...
My most recent experience with Electrify America went an entirely different direction than I expected.
I pulled in with no other vehicles charging despite being memorial day
Went I went to activate the charge through the app it said the stall I was in was "in-use" but clearly it wasn't.
So I...
Americans love trucks, and there is only one REAL truck on that list.
I say this as someone who has an R1T.
But, I have an adventure vehicle and not a truck.
I don't think anyone involved was acting as a jerk. They were just operating with the information available to them at the time, and the time pressure we all have.
If a charger is blocked by an ICE vehicles then its a problem with the owner
If a charger is rendered unusable due to the location...
The problem with that is you effectively can't use a Tesla Supercharger anytime when a station is approaching capacity. The layout requires that you'll block a stall in addition to the stall you're using.
As I interpreted it the OP reduced the capacity of the Supercharger location from 8...
Just so you know there are Rivians owners who have this very exact conflict on their bucket list.
I'm certainly one of them.
Let the entitlement wars begin. Haha
What I find amusing is the FM radio antenna is so bad that I wonder if its even connected. But, the Cell Antenna is excellent and often has signal when my phone has no service (AT&T for the phone as well).
Disclaimer - I haven't not been bribed yet by AT&T.
I'm wondering if Rivian can tell if you use the wrong adapter?
Like lets say you load up your vehicle with A Tesla Destination charger adapter, and an A2Z Supercharger to CCS adapter.
Then lets say you have a massive brain fart and you use the wrong adapter at a Supercharger?
So far it seems...
I wish it had a log features or at the very least a notification history that included ALL of the notifications.
Sometimes its just flashes something at me, and I don't get a chance to read it.
This is one of my chief complaints about my Rivian.
It's not nearly warm enough. I did a comparison test against a Jeep Wrangler and the Rivians steering wheel heater was >10F colder.
It doesn't automatically turn on in the winter nor does it remember whether it was on or not the last time I...
Usually I can identify why a certain kind of person likes a vehicle.
With Rivian owners its pretty duh!
With Porsche/Audi/VW its definitely the way they drive
I understand why Jeep owners get their vehicles and put up with their issues
Italian vehicles are an easy one to get
Toyotas are pretty...
One thing to add is its not just the Supercharger network, but the destination network as well.
The team that was let go did a great job at providing a solid network of options for charging whether you needed to charge on the go or if you wanted to stop for a night and slow charge.
With Tesla...
I think a lot of us are either former Tesla owners or also own a Tesla.
I'm a former owner so there is still some love in me of all things Tesla aside from Musk. I would probably go back to Tesla if they made anything compelling and Musk wasn't in charge.
I'm also a former VW/Audi/Porsche...
You know technology is badly broken when even an iPhone Alarm clock doesn't work.
The other day my Rivian said "connecting to Radio" when it was the FM radio. Haha
This was after the episode where the garage door opener functionality was stuck on the screen whether I was home or not. This was...
