So, you think they'll deliver more vehicles in Q1 than forecasted? I'd like that to be true. They seem to have delivered a healthy number of vehicles in January, but if they were on track to hit their Q1 estimates, why work deals that lose Rivian even more money per vehicle?
The optimistic...
Kinda hard to really know, but if they were on track to meet their forecast, you'd think they wouldn't be pushing so hard for people to take deliveries before the end of the month, plus offering decent deals on upgrades. I'd guess they won't meet the forecast. What I wonder, however, is if the...
A quick google makes it look like the EDV is about 20% more than an equivalent Dodge delivery van. Annual fuel costs on an ICE delivery vehicles won't be cheap. Depending on the location probably $6-8K a year? The EDV probably becomes a bargain in year 6.

YOU KNOW the one. Big, boxy, blue? With soft, sad eyes that say, Please don’t ticket me, officer?
In 2019, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos placed a $7 billion order...
I'm gonna defend the OP just a tiny bit. Don't shoot me.
As a consumer, I appreciate that Rivian has a grounded leadership team. They seem honest and sincere, and they definitely don't want to be wrong. I've yet to hear a pitch that sounds even remotely like, "We'll have a functional HyperLoop...
Sorry for not directly answering your question and just throwing my opinion out there. The leasing deals for a new R1T in the Rivian Shop are a very attractive option, even if you can afford to purchase one outright. All income levels have access to the fed EV tax credit, and you get to have an...
If I could only have one vehicle, I'd choose an EV and deal with the charging inconvenience during the occasional long trip. The convenience of an EV as an every day vehicle isn't something I'd ever want to give up. Now, if I had to take a 300+ mile trip every week ... I'd probably revaluate my...
The momentum is down and it would be a shock if the May news on deliveries is positive. Much of the hunker down info is already factored into analyst projections though. I’d guess we see single digits for a bit, too. Perhaps even leading up to the May earnings report.
I’m also hunkering down. I...
Just saying that Rivian doesn’t have an obligation to provide a free adapter to current owners. They may want to start adding them to new vehicles before the conversion, but the price should increase accordingly.
What you say is true, but only a part of the bigger picture. I’m not saying you can’t do sorta big truck things with it. When you do, however, you’re giving up a ton of convenience because of the range and size. A TON of convenience. Honestly, you don’t see many people doing truck things with...
That’s it. The majority of people buy a truck because it can haul and tow. The R1T does neither of those things very well. If you don’t need the utility of a truck bed, you buy an SUV. Plenty of edge cases but edge cases aren’t mainstream. And if you’re going to lay down 90K on a vehicle, the...
Good read. It kinda confirms that the R1T is a niche vehicle. It would work for me, but it’s not checking enough “truck” boxes for most Americans. And it’s a really, really expensive truck that doesn’t check all those boxes. The R1S, however, is more of a luxury, status vehicle. It must be...
I've had this happen to my ICE vehicles a couple of times. Exorbitant costs at the dealer were eliminated with with soldering gun at home. Granted, it's easier if you can see the wire damage without ripping the whole vehicle apart. I'd imagine this wouldn't be too hard to do on an EV, assuming...
