The crazy thing to me is, there are plenty of us that do want these trucks with 21”/22” wheels and they’re not delivering them (or I guess the people they’re delivering to don’t hang out online in places like this). They’d rather show these builds to people who clearly want their original config...
Actually I take it back, I think you’re exactly right about this. I really can’t wait to see how Rivian continues to play this out, especially in places like the south east where they have a huge gap in service center coverage.
It’s definitely the most bizarre experience I’ve ever had for making a purchase this large. I know they’re a new company and all so I can’t be too hard on them. Just really hope they get it right for other folks.
You and me both. I wonder when that inflection point will be. I really hope they can get more SCs up and running in this region, that’s going to be a huge hurdle here.
I’m not certain they account for location to that degree, or at least that’s the impression my guide gave me. I’ve...
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, would love to see Rivian’s internal numbers on the shop. There’s no way they just have 22 (or more, if each of these represents more than one vehicle potentially) vehicles sitting around week after week with no one claiming them, right?
Honestly I think you may be right with this theory.
I called CS yesterday and apparently I don’t even have a delivery window (let alone one for this year) so I’m not expecting this truck to be delivered until next year at some point.
No one really knows. My guide told me that it was for 2018-2019 preorders only. Several people on this forum and elsewhere have told me based on first hand experience that isn't true. It's anyones guess really.
@Atlrivian, has there been any major change in the inventory in the R1 Shop since this weekend? Debating on if it’s worth it for me to call CS and try and get an explanation about why I’ve had a guide for 2+ months w/o a truck lol.
If this hasn’t changed by Monday I’m going to call CS and escalate. It’s so unreasonable to me that they’d have this many trucks available in ATL that no one with shop access apparently wants while I’m over here with a guide for 2+ months looking at my exact config sitting around for weeks. It...
Sigh. I have but one regret in life, and that’s preordering my R1T a year late. I’d take so many of these vehicles.
Rivian, what are you doing?! Give us all shop access already!
Yep I completely agree. I definitely understand their strategy of wanting to give those super early preorder holders the chance to get a truck with a different config sooner, but I feel like a lot of those folks have their heart set on their config with no way to communicate that to Rivian.
My guide is insistent that I can’t get shop access (and he’s told me he confirmed it with his “lead” as well.)
If I could get access I would likely have had a truck by now, I’m not too picky / concerned with the details of my config.
I’d modify that to say “without attempting to match them to orders”. Almost feels like they’re dedicating a few build cycles purely towards making R1 Shop models.
This is my exact config and I’ve had a guide for 2+ months without a VIN or 8-steps. Just commenting so folks don’t get their hopes up and change to this config thinking it’ll make a difference.
