    You could try using a heat gun or hair dryer to heat the adhesive for easier removal. Would be interested in the solution you found to be the best.

    Remove and replace, if you're doing it yourself be sure to use a fair amount of heat as to help release the adhesive from the paint and not leave a ton behind. =)
