I know there are quite a few PPF threads on the forum but I haven't seen much of a discussion on any of those threads for where edge wrapping is possible or not. Hoping to start this thread to get some inputs and normalization across PPF installs. Mainly to see what is possible and what is truly not possible when it comes to edge wrapping, so when we're working with our installers we're better informed.

As a bonus add on, if you could also help share a checklist of what you would recommend going through before you hand over the vehicle for a PPF install. I know a lot of folks are of the belief that the vehicle should be handed over on Day 0. But I'm seeing there are also lessons learnt from panel adjustments, wind noise reduction, etc.

And since we are on the topic, if you can share what price did you pay for a full coverage?

Hoping this will help all the folks with upcoming deliveries to plan and make a decision.

So to summarize:
  1. Could you please help share (with photos if possible :)) where edge wrapping Is not possible on an R1S?
  2. A checklist, if any, of what to do before handing over your vehicle for a PPF install?
  3. Price paid, if you used an installer (not DIY), for a full coverage and city, state?
Again, there are a ton of good discussions and other threads on which PPF to use, whether to use it or not, DIY options, PPF vs ceramic, etc. So if your questions or comments are regarding any of these other topics, I recommend using the super informative existing threads. Hoping this thread is a consolidation of just the above 3 questions ? Thank you!

Search up some of our threads we've started and will find a number of pictures. Also, this thread showing how poor the install could be, then with pictures of one we did is also on the same thread further down. Here's a happy client who just finished showing off the outcome in his post called El Cap Granite R1S Full Stealth Wrap PPF
.

Check over alignment, for chips, rear door line up - never seen one exactly as should be but some are pretty bad, be sure charge port door isn't rubbing and your doors aren't rubbing on front fender when you open it.

4500 is the base OEM Rivian package, very little wrapped edges no lights, emblems off or black trim. Quality full coverage 7-10K depending on the shop which does the install, even at these price points the outcome will vary dramatically on the number of pieces done and edges wrapped, emblems taken off etc... 5500-6000 will be a middle ground on some installs at more budget friendly shops per say, but still somewhat limited wrapped edges and limited gloss black pieces, maybe emblems off maybe not.

Don't base your choice on price for the most part nor sadly use google reviews as well. Talk to the shop at length maybe go in and see the kits they'll use where they go, where they wrap edges, see if it is a nice clean shop etc... or at minimum a 20-30 minute call to understand what you'll get and how they'll stand behind it if not happy or problems arise.

We have a new Corvette Z06 in our shop right now that has a fairly poor install (not the worst) from another local installer which has very high star reviews, but the client still got an install that should not be on his car. He originally booked the full Xpel PPF and Ceramic install with us, but then cancelled the install of the PPF 2 days later approx. and kept the ceramic appointment as he said, he is old, and didn't care if the car got ruined. When he showed up for his ceramic, he had a full coverage done already on it, then looked me in the eyes and said, "I seen their work and for the price offered and high quality, I figured you couldn't do, or offer any better-quality installation" It's possible his eyesight is not the best, I guess, and I can say he was very wrong to make such an assumption.

We are in Seattle Washington currently and opening our Nashville ClearBra shop early fall.
