After multiple calls from Rivian support over the past 12 hours, they have no freaking clue what is going on, and my charge limit resets itself to 70% no matter what I do.
This is the first issue I've had with my truck and it's scary how inept customer service has been so far.
I'm also a...
Update after multiple calls with Rivian customer service: They have no idea what is causing the issue and are "elevating" the problem.
To everyone else experiencing this problem, please open a service request with Rivian. Let's light a fire under them to fix this issue with minimal disruptions...
Was it cold outside? I notice this too when it's cold outside. In Gen1, I think this is due to heating the battery, but it could also be a BMS issue at low temps? Either way, this is a non-issue for me.
I'm currently having same or a similar problem post software update 2024.47.01. Whenever I set the charging limit it reverts back to 70% after a couple of hours. Pretty frustrating to have the truck stop L2 charging in the middle of the night when I need big range for a trip. I'm engaging with...
I drive a G1 in Montana. I park outside at home all winter. The best trick I've found to "precondition" the battery in cold weather is to schedule a L2 charge so the charging completes 30 min or less prior to my planned departure time. Assuming a 3 hr or longer charge time, the battery temp is...
+1. The key is to plug in when the battery is still warm. The battery has a lot of thermal mass, so it takes a lot of energy to heat the battery, but not much energy to maintain temperature once it's warm.
On my G1 Dual Max, plugged into a 110 wall outlet I normally charge at about 1%/hr in...
Using Camp Mode and selecting "Stay Off" is another option that works well too. I get about 0.5% drain/day in this configuration. If you do this, just remember that you have to manually lock the vehicle when you leave.
The NPS rule is vague for EVs because there is no need for a center differential. R1 vehicles seem like a no brainer to allow, but I wonder how the NPS will try to apply a rule meant to prohibit gas vehicles such as Subarus to smaller but still capable EVs such as R2, R3, and R3X?
As someone who lives in the mountains out West, I think 2.0 mpk is a reasonable average efficiency estimate for planning a trip in the cold. If you want to plan more conservatively, in my R1T (Dual, Max, AT) I average 1.8 mpk at 75-80 mph in temps between 10°-0°F (~20% efficiency loss).
If you...
Was there a heavy load in the bed the night prior?
With my T I've noticed that after you remove a heavy load from the bed the rear suspension sits high until you drive the vehicle again. I think it's due to the vehicle adding air pressure to the rear suspension to level the vehicle under load.
+1 Enthusiastic yes for the Grizzl-E! I'm very happy with mine. It's a great value and just works. It's also very solidly built. Mine is installed outside and I've had no issues, in heavy snow, rain, or with temperatures down to -20°F.
I don't think you need a "smart" charger if the only EVs...
Is anyone else missing the Trip Preferences Icon from their Nav Display in the vehicle?
I'm on software version 2024.11.02. I tried a soft reset but the Trip Preferences is still missing.
Does anyone know if Rivian moved/deleted this functionality? I'm trying to figure out if this is just a...
I also have the Dual AT and have experienced the same issue with soft sand disappearing a couple of times. The soft reset has always worked so far to bring back soft sand. It's an annoying bug that I hope Rivian fixes soon.
I live in Montana and picked-up at the Portland SC. Great delivery experience and great staff. The Illinois temporary registration is good for 90 days, so you'll have plenty of time to get WA registration sorted. If you need to stay the night in Portland there's a good hotel that's a 5 minute...
Just a quick note worth making about the route planner in the Rivian app: It assumes current vehicle SOC as the initial SOC for the trip (if someone knows how to change this, please let me know). This makes the app pretty useless for planning future trips.
So,
To plan a road trip, use ABRP...
I have also have a AT/Max config. From playing around with the truck, I think the discrepancy between the 355 rated miles and the 369 displayed is due to drive mode selection. I think the 355 mile estimate is based on All-Purpose with Standard ride height (EPA test data). If my truck is charged...
